UK Hit By Bird-Flu

Sometime in the early hours of this morning a swan walked into a chemist in Scotland with the intent to buy some Lemsip.

Later tests have revealed the swan had tested positive for bird flu. This is the first case of bird flu in Britain but it has yet to be confirmed if this is the strain that can affect humans.

A 1.8-mile protection zone to prevent poultry being moved is in place around Cellardyke in Fife, where the bird was found eight days ago.

The Scots insist there no need to panic.

But experts fear the virus could mutate to gain this ability, and in its new form trigger a flu pandemic, potentially putting millions of human lives at risk.

Are you concerned??? Not concerned???? Do you even care???

Think its all a conspiracy for pharmacy companies to make money??

concerned but not overly worried. All you can do is take precautions and not much else. The common cold or flu as we know it was originally passed down from birds aswell. All types of flus have been. I never knew that until i heard a programme on radio 4. History shows many ppl died as a result. Today the flu is controlled via vaccinations but it's only given to at risk groups such as the eldery, small kids and those with medical conditions.

So if this new case of bird flu does mutate and go to humans it wouldn't have been the first time. Besides they don't have medication for this strain, and even if they did they'd never be able to mass produce the vaccination in time for all the population. So what's the point in despairing? If you're destined to catch this flu or any other disease you will, even if you leave the country.

The swan shouldda took the flu jab like the doctor ordered

come on the uk has not been 'hit' by bird-flu!

Just the bird.

And I am sure is (halaal) poultry is cooked properly, even if it has any such viri (sp?) they will be killed off...

So nothing to worry about til you start to see people dropping dead.

true - no point worrying...yet!

and then when people are dropping dead, it'll be like a lottery. No way to stay away, and no way to guarantee either survival or death. SO no need to worry then either.

The lethal Avian Bird Flu is just a conspiracy to wipe out half of the world's population. Maybe a bit more. Its too large and unsustainable. China is the rising new superpower and so becoming a threat to the west.

wow now it makes so much sense - finally!

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says he is more concerned about bird 'flu than the threat of Manchester United overtaking his side in the title race.

The Blues boss provoked laughter at his pre-match press conference but he was trying to put the battle with The Red Devils in perspective.

It seems clear the former Porto chief has no intention of becoming embroiled in mind games and feeling any pressure exerted from wily United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

"Mind games? No, for me pressure is bird 'flu," he said on Sky Sports News.

"I'm serious.

"I'm feeling a lot of pressure with the swan in Scotland.

"You're laughing but I'm serious - it's not far.

"I'm more scared of the swan than football. What is football compared to life?

"A swan with bird 'flu. For me, that's the drama of the last two days."

Chelsea face West Ham on Sunday before Manchester United tackle Arsenal, with both games live on Sky Sports 1.

When the deadly flu virus is finally releaded into the
main population, we will all be dropping like flies.

They claim that 300 000 will be killed by the HN51 virus.

However, others estimate which seems correct, that as much as
half of British population will die. Thats 30 000 000 people.

Preperations are already underway to dig up mass
graves at rural locations across the country where thousands of
dead bodies at a time will be dumped.

No funerals will be allowed by the government.

It is likely that corpses will be set on fire and burnt to ashes.

How do u compare the Millenium Bug to a human threat virus?

I smell a conspiracy, funny how they prepared us for this by the mad cow disease, to show us a deadly virus can spread amongst animals, n then a bird disease, which can sumhow contradict each n evry one of my biology lesson in school, by going from birds to humans.
