Salaam
Just a place to discuss the 'competition'.
There is As-Sabiqoon.
There is also VOICES.
Voices does not seem to have a web presence... (the site is just a placeholder IMO... ).
So lets discuss other magazines here, and not in the As-Sabiqoon topic.
List any others you are aware of. Also List what you read, and what you look for.
remember no need to insult or offend the other magazines. They we are all doing Da'wah. We cover a different niche to most though.
Trends was the best.....when it was around

Mr Admin have u checked out how strict their forum rules are?
http://www.as-sabiqoon.com/forum.html
maybe u shud get some tips?
wow, they are strict.

Yeah so everyone gets chucked off forum, no one left to post. If that was revival rules, i wud have broken the first 3 no problemo
Crazy rules lol
I checked them out when I had a look at the site. I do like them.
However there is no way of redress in those rules.
1,2,3 do have some merit. Even I left off gender on these forums. Not that its actually added any anonimity. Not too bothered about names, as since so many people make up names, you will never know wether the name is the real name...
I also understand the security of rule 3. It does not allow bad things to happen.

:o :? :x

All praises are due to Allah (SWT) who is the master of the day of Judgement.
assalamualukum dear respected brothers and sisters in islam may the peace and blessings of Allah shine upon all of uz inshAllah.
i would just like to say first of all that it was a brother from as-sabiqoon who actually gave me the link to ur website, i just wanted to say to u guys that may Allah help u in ur effortsm in whatever u are doing, however just as a nasiha that i understand peeps were discussing the rulez on our forums to be too strict, id like for u guys to ponder on something, who is all this for? Allah then why hav an opportunity there to allow fitna, ie the names i can sign on with a sisters name, and if a brother wants to PM me then by all means he can. anyhow this is just a little nasiha from a muslim brother/sister, think about it inshAllah, and wallahi i do not mean to offend anyone if i have please forgive me, this is soley for Allah (i hope) wasalam Allah is your hafiz.
Admin I hear your a great admire of the Azhar design team?
Not a *great* admirer, but they got skill. Something I severely lack.
So it may just be envy...
the_foremost, thanks for the advice. If anyone is caught abusing the PM system, they are banned from using the PM's.
Its not a perfect system, as we are expecting others to behave, but on the other hand, PM's are also used to warn people, and to notify moderators of oversights etc... its a two way street.
I can see reasons behind the As=Sabiqoon rules, but we here have taken a diferent tack. Slightly Different audience and that.

wa'alaikum salaam respected bro/sis,
JazaakAllah khair for taking the time to visit our site, and for the du'a and nasiha.
firstly, sorry if i offended u by calling ur rules 'strict'. this is not inherently a bad thing because as u said it prevents potential fitnah.
and having looked through your forum rules again, i happen to agree with most of them, the only ones which may pose a problem are:
1. not revealing one's gender means no sisterly/brotherly interaction - on the revival we have seperate sisters' and brothers' boards, as well as this general board. this would not be possible if it wasnt blatantly obvious who is a guy and who is a girl.
2. contact details - what if sisters want to keep in touch? many of the sisters from this forum know eachother's email addresses and some chat on MSN/yahoo messengers.
4. no pictures of living objects - this does not leave room for the narration of Imam Malik which states that only those pictures are unlawful that are three-dimensional and have a body to them, such as statues and sculptures.

This will sound like ganging up on As-Sabiqoon, but I have to say a classic mistake has been made on the forums.
Way way way way too many sections.
we may not have enough for some people, but i think simplicity is best, especially if the forums are moderately busy.
(and do not allow topics such as 'the filthy zionists strike again' without atleast some sort of reply! )
Afterall you do not want gut reactions, but a discussion of the topic, and such language can hold things back, only giving way to violent lashing outs.

ah, i totally agree - makes life way easier for members, and especially newbies, to find their way around.
btw 'ganging up' makes it sound bad, 'constructive criticism' sounds more like it!

You have fine taste, if I may so say......
If we are judging on presentation then As-Sabiqoon medium is very appealing, which will attract it's intended readers. Shaykh Abu Yusuf Riyadh ul Haq hold's many bayaans at Azhar Academy in Forest Gate (not far from Minhaj ul Quran) as seen on the event thread the poster for these events are breathtaking.
Admin Inshallah you should contact these brother and ask for assistance in design the revival site, and I’ll pay for it!
What about Fisabilillah Publications?

All praises are due to Allah the most kind and magnificient, who has blessed us with the eyes that we see with.
dear respected brothers and sisters as mentioned this aint no competion to me, to me it is simple. that day we will stand TOGETHER in front of Allah, not as-sabiqoon on one side and revival on another. anyways jus to tell u bros/sis no offence was taken from my part, and i would lik to comment on the sister or brother, (cant remember) who said about keeping contact, in our forums there is also sections for brothers and sisters (separate) the brothers one sisters cannot see and vice versa. and one last thing the admin i think said about the pms, being enabled so that you can pm if someone is misbehaving. just an advice take it if u wish, i dont mind, why dont u allow PMs for only admin, and the rest disable the PMs,
jazakallah
Allah is your hafiz
Cos quite a few sisters here reg PM another even though for whatever reason they never post on any of the main boards.
Allahu Alam tc peeps
