DARK OR LIGHT SKIN?

This is insane. Although i despise the model industry i will admit there are plenty of beautiful women there, and plenty that are not so beautiful. There are black models aswell. Black women can get away with vibrant colours, asian women white women generally look like they're going to the circus if they do this. On the other hand asian women and white women suit light shades that wouldn't suit a dark skinned woman.

Quit all the nonsense about black women not looking good in make up. There's make up out there for all skin tones it's all about wearing the correct brands. Bobby Brown, and Mac are known to be good for asian and black skin tones.

How did make up come into the equation on this topic anyway?

My father is very dark, my mother is the other extreme. All of my siblings are various shades, i really don't give a stuff they still look beautiful to me. I'm sick to death of this obsession with skin colour :?

If you're not content with your skin colour scrub it with a nail brush see if you can make it whiter, try for at least 3 hours i promise it works wonders :roll:

BTW any of you ever read "The bluest eye" -Toni Morrison? it;s a hearbreaking story of one black girls mental and physical abuse as a result of society teaching her black=ugly. She lives life dreaming of being a white girl, just so she may be deemed beautiful. Reminds me of asian girls putting in blue contacts, blonde hair, bleached skin..any parallels?

There's no secret really, different stuff works for different people, some religiously cleanse, tone and moisturise every night and exfoliate every few weeks…others just rely on soap and water.

Totally agree with you Yash being light skinned is nothin to do with beauty, loada codswollop! There are loads of beautiful women who are dark skinned. The thing is we should get rid of this mentality, those who judge people based on skin colour are only making themselves look stupid and narrow-minded.

Beauty can be found in all colours.

I think so, well Victorian makeup anyway (a mixture of blood and other stuff, that basically was blusher). The Victorian ideal was, milk white complexion, with rosy lips and cheeks.

i personally think make-up suits everyone not matter what there skin colour is. They just have use the right shade of colour that suits them. example, if you have light coloured eyes then darker shades looks good because it brings out the colour of the eyes or if you have dark colour eyes then lighter colours bring out the colour of your eyes more, however some women just look good without make-up, this doesn't mean make up doesn't suit them.

it was originally designed for white women, but so were many other things not just make up. But now times have changed so has make up, there are brands out there for all sorts of skins.

But what really counts is what is inside (Personality), and we should be grateful for how allah (Subhanatallah) created us and made us Unique, in his own way from everybody else!

Some people do take things for granted or don't appreciate what they've got till its gone. There are many people out their that would love to have the skin colour you have regarding to this topic and there's you moarning about it because you want to be fairer... roll

Lets face it the truth is being fairer or being whiter skinned is seen as good-looking and being dark skinned is seen as ugliness. The majority of asains want fairer skins and want fair wifes and fair kids, the same is true with black people the light skined black people are seen to be better looking in the black community.

Lets face it although we know its wrong we all know being dark is percieved as ugly and being fair skinned is good-looking, this is a social contstruct. This is fact of life e.g. same as having a bent nose is ugly.

However we should ask ourselves why is this ?
where does it stem from ?
who started it?
why are we naturally brainwashed to believing it?

while studying attractiveness in psychology i was given a picure of the face that would be seen as most attracive , this was formed from the basis of numerous studies.

the picture showed typical features of a white male, e.g. small lips, narrow small nose , tight jawline.

i said to my teacher the only thing missing is blond hair and blue eyes and he would be the perfect nazi lol
