what is it that triggers tears to flow form our eyes? i mean this has always sort of confused me. how does emotion and the way we feel affect the tear flow in our eyes? seriously this has always baffled me... why is that we cry in certain situations? why do we cry?

and why do we have tonsils, we dont even need them, i had mine taken out, so that sort of baffled me in the first place, is that if we dont need them why do we have them in the first place, do they have a real purpose?

Crying reduces my burden and the feeling of heaviness in my heart...and after crying I'm usually exhausted, which makes me feel much better.

I understand how it releases sad emotions which are burdened deep inside of you, believe me I am a big crier. But sometimes when I dnt wanna cry, I still end up crying…

Islamically a moist eye is an indication of a soft heart…medically; I don’t know why we cry.

its obviously got a lot to do with hormones...

we often associate tears to crying, but its actually a continuous process, tears are what keep our cornea lubricated. its just when hormones or whatever cause excessive production of tears that they overspill and it becomes 'crying'.

I always cry well proper weep at least every 2 months and in the morning i end up with a cold but crying helps me release the feeling i have inside me.

Tears flow from tear glands into your eyes through tiny tear ducts. When stimulated, produce tears to form a thin film over your eyeballs. Every time you blink the film spreads over your eyes to keep them moist and free of dust and other irritants. Whether you are awake or asleep, happy or sad, this salty fluid is always flowing from the tear glands.

Besides protecting your eyes, the tear glands produce more fluid when your eyes are irritated. These extra tears are called reflex or irritant tears. And, when something makes you happy or sad, your tear glands will produce emotional tears.Scientists have discovered that the emotional tears contain higher levels of manganese and the hormone prolactin, and this contributes in a reduction of both of these in the body; thus helping to keep depression away. Many people have found that crying actually calms them after being upset, and this is in part due to the chemicals and hormones that are released in the tears.

we are all different colours because we have climatised and adapted to our environment,but dont get this mixed up with evolution.

Chinese got narrow eyes because the sun is really bright on the east, hence 'the land of the rising sun', also there is alot of dew around, therefore having smaller eyes protects them from the sun rays and dew getting in their eyes.

By the way i dont think chinese people would like to be known as having 'chinky eyes' :o , that could be racist :?

the sciencetific explanation
language developed over millions of years , there were separe distinct phases , it started with gestures that was used for communication , plan hunting, getting a mate, then gradually as our bodys developed our vioces could facilitate different sounds which could be used to descibe actions and objects. so language was gradaul process, it wasnt invented. We speak different languages and from one another because languages developed according to race and regions.

However according to islam Adam and Eve were the first humans on earth and they spoke too each other, it will be interesting to know if anybody here knows what language they spoke ?
are there any hadiths or quranic qoutes about adam and eve and language?

However then why are we going uni , shoulnt we all just practice islam and just devote our whole lives to islam because everything else is pointless :?:

We cannot doubt the Quran it cleary states the meaning of life

However does anyone feel there could be more to life or is this questioning a prime example of lack of faith?

To me the meaning of life is to be a good muslim, submit to god , seek knowledge, enhance mankind and better yourself as a human being and muslim.

Ibadah is more than Salaah.

Even going uni can be ibadah if the intention is correct.

If I know you are gonna commit a crime, should I not get you imprisoned before you even think of committing the crime?

even if I was 100% right, would you accept my judgement?

oh dear, the ol' Qadr vs. Free Will question... :?
basically, the way i see it is this: yes, Allah knows very well the path we are going to take, but we do not know it... say Allah has destined £300 for you at the end of the week - u can either steal it, or earn it in a halaal manner. so there are two paths to your destiny and this is where Free Will comes in, the path u choose is what you will be judged upon.
also, we can only take such questions so far. a man asked Khalifah Umar ibn Al-Khattab a similar question and he said 'go and look in the well'. the man came back and said he did not find anything in the well. Umar (r.a) told him again, 'go and look in the well'. after the third time, the man got the message - there are some things we will never know the answer to and should not delve in unnecessarily.

but if allah (swt) destined us £300 surely he would know if i will steel it or earn it halaal way, the point im trying to make is Allah(swt) knows the path we will take.

but you are basically saying this question is unaswerable, but i want to know the answer and feel it necessary to delve in to
