Dave remember the "princess" biography..."Maha" turned to women for the same reason.
The girl was a typical case of a messed up child. Wasnt she the one involved in black magic aswell?
Messed up.

Yes, that was her.
Like the Muslim girl I know.."Maha" also got through her problem with help from her parents.
her sister "amani?" was better. Good religious child.

Yes she was.
But I didn’t agree with her extreme judgemental and condemning nature. She brought a lot of pain to her mother with her sharp words.
Overall, I admired the character and strength of “Sultana” the most….if only she was religious minded as well. She’d be a great role model for women.
Yea that's true
Yes she really was the best character - all around. The running narrative really captured a struggle between her religious principles and her culture rather than lumping them into one big thing.
And man she set her husband straight when he tried to marry another girl
I found sultana annoying but at the same time funny.
Personally i found amani hilarious. Her comments to her mom at times were stinging.
One thing that was very good idea was what the women of the family do at the end when they find one of the men or was a group of them? doing something very sinful against a foreign worker. That blockade that the women formed was the perfect way to stop the abuse.
But, yeh, Amaani was a great character IMO.

There were so many injuctices towards women highlighted in all three books.
It was a deep book. I rate the work of Sultana and her sisters.
yeh there were some very depressing activities but it aint like the women were all perfect either.
Overall a depressing read.

It was this book.

Its in three parts…”Princess/daughters of Arabia and Dessert Royal” by Jean Sasson but its the voice of a Saudi Princess.
It highlights the injustices faced by Muslim women living in Saudi…
Its a very depressing read.
I haven’t heard of the Mosque you mentioned…but yeah, East London Mosque is GREAT for reaching out to the needs of the community. I heard they recently built a gym there.
That's still the best series i've read in a while. The first was the best out of it.
It basically shows the hypocrisy in the Saudi Royalty of the guys who use Islam basically as a tool of oppression against the women by twisting it as they see fit - while they go off and drink and womanize and whatnot.
Was Amani also her sister than was initially married to the extremely abusive old man?
and speaking of sister's how is yours?!
I thought that Sara tried to commit suicide and was eventaully freed from him and then got married again to a good geeza?
One sister, Ramla, i think was attakced viciously by her husband that she had to wear a bag all the time.

Sara! That's it - she marries the cousin of Sultana's husband, an absolute top fellow that loves her completely

It's so short though!
I read it in an hour!
...then again it's incredibly graphic... some of the descriptions of the cruelty are beyond all understanding
What really got me was when she gave the brief history of Afghanistan before the Taliban - she talked about the extreme violence as though it were normal or she was just shrugging it off...
I read that book Dave. It is short and another depressing book.
But for some reason it didnt touch me as much as the "Princess" series did.
Personally I take these types of books with a pinch of salt, no a bucket fool of salt.
The only way they gona sell is if they sensationilse normal things that happen or overdramatise what for most people are boring ordinary lives.
I am interested in reading "In the hands of the Taliban" by Yvonne Ridley. NE1 read it, and what do you think, is it worth bothering about.?
