From the way you put it 'Ed, it seems he was trying to determine the religion of Faria Alam.
(who is YOUR god... when she did not reply... he mentioned first part of Kalimah... I have not watched it... but that is what I got from reading 'Ed's post...)
However he has previously married a palestinian. Was she a muslim? was she practising?
questions, questions.
I would not make the statement saying he is muslim, unless he announces it first.

The man does throw in a lot of Islamic phrases in his speech or converstaions.
I've heard him say "Bismillah air rahman...Mashallah...Inshallah" etc.
I thought that was cos he's married to a Muslim-apparently.
I thought it was distasteful political/religious blackmail.
You see the way muslims react when a nonmuslim uses an Islamic phrase.
They swoon.
So it seems I could have been wrong! (I will hold my judgement yet...)

Lol. I've always thought the man benefits a LOT from the Muslim vote. He has a great fan club.
Whether his intentions are sincere or not, is something we can never be sure about.
However, even though Iwas initially disgusted with his decision to go into the big brother house...I did understand his reasons which he gave in his statement.
But he thought it was worth it if he gained the understanding of more people.
Politicians should go out of their way to engage the general population. He did just that.
For a politician he thought outside the box.

I think we're reading too much into it.
So what if he read half the kalima?
His MP-less constituents are Muslims. Muslims are his target audience. He's just playing to the crowd.
No doubt, when he went to Serbia to drum-up anti-US/Muslim feeling during the Kosovo War he was using Christian Orthodox terms and phrases in his speeches.
But, maybe after all the exposure he has had to Islam, he just couldn't resist the pull. :?:
lol i'm a little surprised (esp at the UC speech) people fell for all that... Maybe i'm just a naturally suspicious person but I had just seen him in New York "debating" Christopher Hitches and he was posing to the crowd as this big time secular athiest socialist - because that's what the crowd wanted.
And with all his "for Palestine" stuff I get the feeling he's just playing to his constituency - although in fairness he does have a long record of Palestinian sympathy, although I thought that was based on some sort of secular socialist perspective, rather than any sort of sympathy toward Islam, Muslims, or religion at all - however that's greatly influenced by the Mr. Secular Socialism I saw debating Hitchens.
Besides it was all so forced he almost paused to throw in those Islamic phrases and he looked ridiculous pretending it was just something natural off the top of his head.
He was following a rule of oratory as old as Aristotle - know your audience.

I read this on an Islamophobic website thinking it was something they had made up just to take the piss...
Quote:
Recently, Allah (SWT) has disgraced these so-called Muslims and the one they have associated with Allah, George Galloway, by causing him to appear on a reality TV show "Celebrity Big Brother". Shows such as this contain all the corruption Allah (SWT) has forbidden, such as free-mixing, fornication, drinking, nudity, swearing and many other abominable acts. These kinds of programmes attract only the lowest of the low who desperately seek recognition and fame by any means possible. They are people who have no honour, respect or dignity and can only be described as animals. George Galloway will certainly have no trouble fitting in as he has all the criteria the show is looking for. Just recently, the media has shown George Galloway at his best – behaving like a cat (animal) purring at the hands of a woman. This is not surprising as one cannot expect anything more from a person of such low intellect and morality, a representative of those who voted for him.
Furthermore, we all saw how Allah (SWT) humiliated and exposed the hypocritical (munaafiq) organisation based in the East London Mosque, Islamic Forum Europe, after Mr Galloway's election victory last year. They were shown on television, and in newspapers, carrying the najas (impure) Galloway on their shoulders, celebrating and parading the one they had shamelessly associated with Allah in order to gain some worldly benefits.
Is this the animal they took as a lord (lawmaker) besides Allah? Is this animal the one they chose to ally with instead of the believers? Is this the animal they chose to represent them in this world and the Hereafter? Is this the animal they campaigned for and called other Muslims to vote for? Is this the animal they appointed to be their knight and liberate Muslim lands? Is this the animal they claimed embraced Islam? How many promises has he fulfilled? Which war has he stopped?
Hitch kind of looses it (his sanity) towards the end and starts calling the (old male) moderator "darling".
He also comes up with a few new justifications for the war that only he uses.
My favourite is that Saddam putting "Allahu Akbar" on the iraqi flag is evidence in support of his ties with al-qaeda. Although originally he said it was a "threatening verse from the Qu'ran". Nice research there Chris.
Dave I've noticed that his description of the anti-war faction around Pat Buchanan has gone from "isolationist" to "anti-Israel, isolationist" to "anti-semitic, isolationist". Has Pat become more extreme lately or is this rhetoric on Hitchens part?

Pat's always been isolationist - I think one of the funniest things i've ever seen was a Pat Buchanan Presidency commercial - swarms of evil mexicans were jumping across unguarded borders for unknown yet sinister purposes.
To make us all brown.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I don't know what his traditional stand on Israel is but yes, Hitchens is correct - Buchanan is rabidly anti-Israeli and rabidly Isolationist right now.
Fortunately nobody listens to him

He's a racist whackjob that wants to cut America's jugular by closing borders ending immigration and cut social benefit programs for underprivileged minorities.
Probably because he went for the jugular yesterday... insulting the other participants. So they probably nominated him for eviction... (I have not watched the thing... so hearsay alert!)
But he is out, and that is probably a good thing.

Yeh, I too heard that he was very gobby and blunt in the house. Its no surprise he got evicted.
He lost his dignity and self respect by going in that house....
I have also never watched the show...I read somewhere that once he made a fool of himself on the show by pretending to be a cat and licked milk from someone's hand?!

That was a house 'task' he was given to perform.
And NewLabour fully capitalised on it.

It's from the .
I understand Galloway is teaming up with Jane Fonda to tour the US telling us all how messed up we are.
I hope he's not expecting a warm reception
I think George Galloway is Catholic by the way.
Has anyone listened to the Hitchens-Scott Ritter debate?

Is it good or bad or not really much of either?
both.
