They matter - seems like looks and confidence are the number one things girls seem to like.

Even our prophet ﷺ tells us to look for beauty in that hadith about the qualities to look for in a partner, besides piety beauty is mentioned. I agree with Dave entirely we aren't being honest if we say looks don't matter at all, to some extent they do. It may not be the deciding factor but it comes into the equation.
Mmm any gal can look good tarted up, as muslimsislilsis says but that's not the real them. Feel sorry for the guy when she washes it off and he see's her real face. Maybe you guys should request to see your partners face minus the make up when searching for a marriage partner, so you know what you're getting. Seriously my brothers asked to see girls without make up on. My husband said if i had been wearing make up he would have asked my parents to tell me to remove it so he could see what i looked like naturally. I didn't have any on though. Lucky for him coz i would have thght he was damn rude lool

Look do matter, but it shouldn't be a decision that decide who you marry as once the looks disappear, which they will do eventually, what are u left with. You really want to be with someone where the realtionship grows and develops due to a common interest and understanding, rather then in the case of looks which slowly disappear as will the foundation of the marriage.
