'Snowstorms on way' for chilly UK

Severe wintry weather is being forecast for the UK, with as much as 20cm of snow causing disruption in some parts by the weekend, the Met Office says.

Snow is most likely in Scotland and eastern England but south-east England, north Wales, the Midlands and Northern Ireland may also be hit from Thursday.

Snow, sleet and hail will be coupled with gale force icy winds and wind chill temperatures as low as -10C.

Snow in November is "unusual, but not unheard of", the Met Office says.

The forecast follows days of freezing conditions across the UK and warnings of hazardous driving conditions due to dense fog.

Nowhere 'immune'

Daytime temperatures are expected to be around 2C to 4C, dropping below freezing at night.

The Met Office is predicting a colder and drier than average winter for the UK with more frequent cold snaps.

The last time winter temperatures dropped below the UK average was 10 years ago in 1995/6.

If it gets especially cold, then we'll have power cuts.

Sticky wicket haha what the hell you on Dave?

Btw we call "chips" - "chips" and we call french fries - "fries"

What are gloves made of?

Beast — Sat, 26 Nov 2005 - 22:46

Magic gloves stretch. That's all.

A sticky wicket - like when you're in a difficult position or something.

Dave — Sat, 26 Nov 2005 - 22:48

Leather of course!

And if you actually want to be warm (and you're a guy) fur inlining.

Mittens are made out of cotton or wool.

...yall can't just mess with this stuff - there is an order to it which must be appreciated.

Angel — Sat, 26 Nov 2005 - 22:54
ewwwwwwwww @ leather gloves

I only like suede or mayeb wool
Yeh suede looks good however wool is more warmer.....i am gona go into uni monday so i'll be in town so i'll have to grab a pair. Leather looks tacky lol

I agree

silly Dave has no fashion sense

how crap do leather gloves look

You — Sun, 27 Nov 2005 - 00:26

Dave do not mock our english eccentricities!

you have bastardised the English language! atleast give your version a new name!

Why do you call chips fries? and what do you call fries?

and why do you call crisps chips? they are thin and crispy!

The magic of magi gloves are they are made of stretchable wool.

Not as good as leather gloves.. but leather gloves should never be lent out. They lose their snigness if anyone else wears them. especially if their hand is slightly diferent in size or shape.

Why on Earth not?!

yashmaki — Mon, 28 Nov 2005 - 17:52

i've got some shoes bit like that more kiddish looking mine are lol. i wear ankle length tights with them. Chunky socks would ruin the shape and just look stupid with them lol. Socks are only to be worn with heavy duty shoes and boots not the delicate types.

Just get some appropriate shoes for the snow and frost, this is just the start, you'll slip with them shoes sis. Does a girl need a better excuse for new shoes

Snow down here aswell rds look dangerous, not the best time to be driving. Drive safe you lot, especially you boys!
