It’s been years since I heard my dad say this….but when I was a teenager I used to hear this a lot…

Usually it was when I kept on speaking in English and dad was speaking to me in Urdu…..this used to tick him off but now even he’s given up on trying to teach us Urdu…

Whenever any of us used to go into a strop or acted like a moody, stroppy teenager….we used to hear “That’s it- go upstairs and pack your bags, you’re all going Pakistan”…

Even as a 15year old I never understood this threat…I loved going Pakistan and dad knew this.

Have your parents ever threatened you like this? Or do they use other threats….and have your parents ever actually carried out their threats?

And what exactly is it about Pakistan and discipline? I knew this rebel girl- she was out of control and even used to bring weapons to school…her mum took her to Pakistan and she came back a reformed teenager?!

And another thing, would it be correct to say that the kids back home are a LOT more respectful with their parents then the kids from here are?....I think they are….obviously I cant speak on behalf of every child there however, based on personal experience I’ve been surprised at the high level of blind obedience parents back home receive…why is this?

And what IS the best way to discipline a child? Beating him/her with sticks or giving him/her a light slap now and again only as a last resort?

In my family girls are never physically harmed- regardless of how naughty they are. However, as a last resort dads often may smack their sons….is this fair? (I think it is)

OR are you totally against raising your hands to children? Is shouting at them more then enough? Or do you believe that even shouting is wrong?

What is effective discipline?

admin...would india have been hindu dominated with such a large muslim population...was it not possible to find a workable solution?

a united india wuld have been FAR better for the muslims and the nonmuslims of that region...

why shuld the indian muslims leave their ancestral homes to join this "land of the pure"?

indian muslims have been abandoned and suffer alot now...

like when 50,000 or so INDIAN muslims were murdered in revenge for PAKISTANI based terrorists burning a train ful of hindu pilgrimes in 2001...they went into hiding in pakistani kashmir and let their indian "brothers and sisters" take the pain...

creation of pakistan done nothing positive for the pple of the indian sub continant...

one of historys great errors....

Just some facts about that little 'attack' on the train:

That fire was later found to have been started accidentally.

The reason Muslims were blamed was that the people on the train had just come back from a rally for a Hindu temple to be built where a mosque once was.

Again there are complex issues at hand. Pakistan was created by the support of leading ULAMA for it to be an islamic state. Unfortunately the forces of evil have not allowed this to happen. Those who are happy with pakistan as it is now, a secular democracy then they shouldnt have an issue with one unified india. Those ulama who supported pakistan was on the basisi that it would be a pacle where SHARIAH is implemented.

Shariah does not mean being allowed to call adhan, or to establish madaris, or to legally marry fourtimes, or to celebrate your festivals openly. Because these things the muslims could and still do DO in india. Shariah means full implementation of divine law, and this is WHY the ulama who supported partition supported pakistan's creation.

Unfortunately the people have lsot their way, may ALLAH guide them and us. ameen

lol I guess if I had really rotten kids there is nothing preventing me from sending them to Pakistan.

Actually it might be even better because they wouldn't have any family there - just drop em off at the airport with ten bucks and their own bratty ingenuity
