Taj Mahal
Anyone seen the taj mahal?
Whats its full history, what do you think about it.
Do you think it was a waste of money, an empty gesture or is it full of meaning?
Taj Mahal stands on the bank of River Yamuna, which otherwise serves as a wide moat defending the Great Red Fort of Agra, the center of the Mughal emperors until they moved their capital to Delhi in 1637. It was built by the fifth Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan in 1631 in memory of his second wife, Mumtaz Mahal, a Muslim Persian princess. She died while accompanying her husband in Burhanpur in a campaign to crush a rebellion after giving birth to their 14th child. The death so crushed the emperor that all his hair and beard were said to have grown snow white in a few months.
When Mumtaz Mahal was still alive, she extracted four promises from the emperor: first, that he build the Taj; second, that he should marry again; third, that he be kind to their children; and fourth, that he visit the tomb on her death anniversary. He kept the first and second promises. Construction began in 1631 and was completed in 22 years. Twenty thousand people were deployed to work on it. The material was brought in from all over India and central Asia and it took a fleet of 1000 elephants to transport it to the site. It was designed by the Iranian architect Ustad Isa and it is best appreciated when the architecture and its adornments are linked to the passion that inspired it. It is a "symbol of eternal love".
Taj Mahal
I dunno, I dnt think its got anything to do with what a person can afford.
I think its abt what he/she does for the other person that matters more. Perhaps, for her own good he tortures himself and torments himself so nothing bad happens to her , nor is she accused of anything or thought badly of.
I think, its abt the way they BEHAVE with each other.
Having said that, I was the one who started this thread, and I have to admit I DO find it impressive and romantic to build such a thing for his wife, even though such tombs and mausolea are innovated. I can see the poetic nature and ofcourse the romance in it.
Btw its a full moon tonight. Or maybe tomorrow. But for sure the moon looks absolutely beautiful today ,mashaALLAH.
We got clear skies here in bham, and gazing at the moon is so great. It looks so radiant and enchanting in the city where there is soo much light pollution, in our village back home the moon is EVEN more beautiful. SubhanALLAH, ALLAH'S signs are everywhere, the moon is so beautiful, how much more beautiful must its Master be?
SubhanALLAH.
Taj Mahal
LilSis....u tryna knock the Taj Mahal??
Taj Mahal
Rich people in history have also fallen in love, despite this the Earth is not full of extravagent palaces in the name of love.
The Taj Mahal is very beautiful..however, the story behind it does little for me.
Its the simple, genuine, sincere and unpretentious things in life that hold more weight.
who cares who's to blame
at diff times-diff people are to blame
here we're discussing how lame it is to build a palace to express ur love
I agree, it all relative too the situation, we shouldn't be too blind to understand just the one point of view.
I also agree the Taj Mahal is naff, honestly these sort of gesture are as much as telling the world what a great person you are then being a true gesture of Love.
