In Islam we are told to respect our parents, our parents have brought us to this world, clothed us feed us etc, above all given us islamic guidelines to their full knowledge and understanding...so basically parents are a blessing.
A hadith references in regards to parents.
Hazrat Abu Abdur Rehman Abdullah Bin Mas’ud (R.A.A.) says that he asked the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.): which action is the most favourite with Allah the Almighty. He answered : “Performing the Salat (or offering Prayers) in time.” I asked: Thereafter? He said: ‘Good treatment of parents.’ I submitted; ‘Then which next?’ He said: “Fighting and struggling in the way of Allah.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
As you can see from the above hadith, good treatments of parents comes before fighting and struggling in the way of Allah (swt). Therefore we can see that treatin our parents in a good manner holds a lot of importance.
The next hadith points more towards a mother as a mother is one who bears the child for nine months and gives the child relvant islamic upbringin...
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (R.A.A.) relates that a man came to the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) and asked: ‘O Messenger of Allah, which person of all the people is best entitled to kind treatment and the good companionship from me? He answered? ‘Your mother.’ The man asked: And then? He said: ‘Your mother.’ And after her? He said: ‘Your mother.’ And after her? The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) said: ‘Your father’ (Bukhari and Muslim)
So from the above hadith you can clearly see the status of a mother as a "mother" has been mentioned 3 times for the same question....
At the moment I live with my parents, I am close to both of them I guess 'cause I am the oldest (and the wisest amongst my bros and sis
) I can easily share my problems with them and vice versa.
Parents are a great gift from Allah Almighty, we only appreciate them when we are away from them

I suppose i'm closer to my dad, he's a weak guy though and I don't really have a ton of respect for him. He tries ~ I give him that.
Mom not so much, shes a lot more like me and we fight all the time, occasionally I can make her laugh but that's usually at somebody elses expense, I think she tries in her own way but stomping on people isn't particularly something I enjoy doing.
And I absolutely cannot stand the stuff they say about my girlfriend.

i would never like to hurt em...if someone asked me that a few weeks back i'd be thinking twice ,

im GONNA sacrifice my OWN happiness for my MUMS....that shows how much i really love and care for her.
I have a wonderful family. None of us has any rights over anyone else. It is most excellent when we hang together, challenge one another from our innermost selves, listening for long enough to recognise what we are getting from each other and to admire what each of us is up to 'out there'. There's a lot of warmth and love, forgiveness, generosity, the occasional tantrum, and it's all quite overwhelming. So I don't live with them.

i've alwayz argued like cats and dogs with my siblings and at times hated them so much....i dont realise the love i have for them until one gets seriously ill.
which shows i really do love them.
but when they ask me in a joke if i love them....i alwayz tell them how much i hate them LOL.

Sometimes you can't live with them and you can't live without them...
My peace of mind and happiness is very strongly linked with their opinion of me...
Good parents really are a blessing from Allah (swt).
I live at home, get on wiv both of ma parents but sometimes av disagreements but still respect their decisions, my siblings on the other hand well wot can i say you cant live with them but you cant without
If i ever hand anything on my mind my parents wouldnt be the first i would turn to, wud be ma sis, were real close and its vice versa with her theres stuff she done that i know bout that if ma parents found out they probs av a heart attack (probs not so much me mum coz she know wot she like but defo ma dad, lol)

thankully, no
but i understand its not the case with everyone unfortunately
and for that reason, some of us need to be more understanding when individuals are more easily ready to displease thier parents in favour of thier lover..........or something like that
