salaam..
so Ramadan is almost over...
now what?
what have we gained from this month?
what lessons have we learnt?
Have we improved as individuals?
Have we gained enough inner strength and piety to keep us as good Muslims for the rest of the year?
What are our post -Ramadan resolutions?
What are our short and long term Islamic plans after Ramadan?
pls share your views....
wasalaam
Unfortunately I have not done myself justice this month.
I have not lost my bad habits, nor have I gained any good habits. I cannot see any real change from before ramadan.
As always we must try for 12 months of the year, not just 1.

i go with the above^^^ said by admin, this ramadhan hasnt changed me at all from the previous. normally i have this spiritual connection kinda thing but this ramadhan had no such effect.
i blame this forum lol.
same position as admin unfortunately.
in fact last ramadan was much better for me on a spiritual level.
but alhumdulillah that i lived to experience this ramadan.

This Ramadan due too many other activities I haven’t spent as much time reading the Qur’an…and also because of I’ve been so tired I’ve hardly spent any nights on the prayer mat…I’ve even missed my tarawih’s a few times …I hardly read my Tahajid this Ramadan too
So spiritually, last year was better…I made more dua’s, did more dhikr and read more Qur’an.
However, I think I fasted better this year…cos unlike last year, this year I was involved with the radio, Uni, started work, Islamic programmes and other stuff…..I spent my day in a productive manner…I didn’t watch as much TV, I didn’t spend my evenings over eating, and I had no time (or energy) to argue with family/people..
I also hardly met up with my mates….which meant I never wasted time or got drawn into backbiting etc
I do intend to continue spending my days in a productive manner….however, when Ramadan ends…one can strongly feel the decrease in the mercy and blessings of Allah (swt)…its difficult to continue ones good practices….
One always feels closer to Allah (swt) when the stomach is empty.
It’s still not over yet….we should all try to push ourselves to the limit in these last few days.

Have learned the mirror principle, i.e. being good to people means that people be good to you even if you've been good to one person a new person who you haven't met will most likely be good to you.
Probably the scariest thing thing is i've started to find not having a lot of sleep to be a welcome feeling. You know where you can feel a little tiredness but not enough to actually yawn or anything, very weird as about 2 years ago I felt if I didn't get a solid 8 1/2 block I hadn't had a full nights sleep.
However not a mujahid yet had 2 1/2 sleep on after Fajr on Monday went into uni sat down in design and manufacture, 5 mins went by...woke up and it was the end of the lecture. :? worried that I might have missed something important.
Gentleness and kindness were never a part of anything except that it made it beautiful, and harshness was never a part of anything except that it made it ugly.
Through cheating, stealing, and lying, one may get required results but finally one becomes
I havent gained much
I made bare duas on the odd nights and stuff (InshaAllah will be accepted) I read Quran, but not as much as I should have or wanted to
' Nay, verily! With me is my Lord, He will guide me ' {2662}
I've lost weight this Ramadan
need to put it back on ASAP...I'm sure nan will try to fatten me up this Eid
this Ramadan was HARD for some reason
...Has anyone else felt that this Ramadan was more difficult?
Is this cos the fasts were bit a longer?
salaam
i think the fasts were longer than last few years....
well if u are at work all day, then get home and go to mosque for iftari, before you know it, day is over...and theres not much you can do in terms of extra worship, ibadat, quran, nafls etc.....mainly because by then you're exhausted!!!!!
i think weekends should have been easier but also more of an opportunity to get more out of the fast...but because we lacked sleep during the week, i think sometimes i would be asleep just until zuhr time....i get energy back, but half the day is gone!!!!!
for me personally being involved with revival mag, distribution, forums, answering emails, radio ramadan and work.... means i havent done as much to achieve the ultimate goal of fasting- taqwa!
but i think what i have got out of the month is regularly reading prayer 5 times a day, on time, and mostly with jamaat..and at least i have been able to talk and discuss about Islam rather than idle talk....
i think we should all set ONE goal / aim to do one thing next month..or every month...
ie. make sure i wake up for fajr
or make sure i read salaah with jamaat
or make sure i read quran at least once a day/week etc..
so ppl...what is the one ONE THING YOU'RE GONNA WORK UPON?
Salam
This Ramadan was not as good.
That is because of the Kashmir Earthquake.
Suffering of women and children in the open harsh climate, has taken away all the joy which one is suppose to feel during Ramadan.
God give them strength.
Omrow
salaam
yes omrow i agree however i think it only encouraged me to pray harder not just for myself but for every1.
Alhamdulilah i have felt Ramadaan was excellent this year!
read all my tarawihs and alhamdulilah stayed up on all of the odd nites and 2nite Inshallah!!
however like with every1 time was a slight problem had a lot of uni work and deadlines to adhere to so therefore wasnt able to read as much Quran though my prayers were on time. the best nite i have had soo far was the 27th which i had on sunday nite i spent half of it in the mosque which was amazing just sitting there reciting durood together reading salatul tasbih together really made me feel part of a ummah.
the one thing i would work upon would be my tahajud.
Wa/salaam
ger wise i found it a lot more difficult this year.
but spiritual wise i think i became more focused than i have during previous years
This ramadan was increadibly difficult.
I dont mind starving myself of food or drink.
Its the other part thats difficult.
No lies, no cheating, no cursing. I've managed to keep a good hand on the first 2 (to great damage to my job) and ive done my best with the cursing.... Im dont generally curse its only when i get in the car and drive that i start cursing at other drivers...
I also adopted (as some may remember) early this ramadan a see no evil, hear no evil, do no evil thing. Which was hard... v.hard... wont say i was 100% successful ... but im working on it.
The Earth Quake in Pakistan has totally put me off Eid and celebrating anything. The muslim uma are like a huge body... if one part gets hurt the rest of the body feels it.

i agree with Seraph in regards to Eid, this year wont be the same. how can it?
In terms of Ramadan, i think Alhamdulillah it has been much better than previous years, ive actually been more conscious of what i hear, say, do, etc. Prayers have been good, attended Mehfil's, done more Ibadah than many ramadans put together Alhamdulillah lol
one thing tho - jus doesnt feel like ramadan unless its them short dark windy rainy days for some reason :?
I pray all our Dua's are accepted in this blessed month of Ramadan, and Allah SWT will forgive us for any sins, mistakes, wrong-doings etc

got agree wiv most of you avnt gained much this ramadan but i have tried, not listened to music which is summit major for me and av cut down on my swearin. Yeah fasts have been harder this yr probs coz they r longer (i dread to think wot its gonna be like in summer). Ramadan was better last yr then this yr for sum reason. Read Qu'ran but not as much as i wanted to and did namaaz but not as much as i should have, lack of sleep really does get to you. I always dread ramadan when it comes coz i lose weight (i'm tryin put some on) but thank Allah almighty i havent this yr, phwwwww

This ramdan has been not as spritual as last years one but i have learnt a few things:
Awareness of my sins and inshallah will try to keep away from them
Beauty of Allah (swt) mercy
Importance of ramdan esp. Layla-tul-Qadar (which i didnt know about b4 much) and how inshallah i will take FULL advantage of next Ramdan
The above shows: somethings i should continue doing and abandon most.
Asalamualaikum!
Id hav to admit this Ramadhan has been different from last years.
The best thing about this Ramadhan is that i didnt even miss one taraveeh in mosque, i hav been readin them all alhamdullilah but id hav to admit that i hav been more dwn, more in2 tears, more hurted then eva ..dnt no y though
Ive been in my best behaviour all the way thru, most of my roze were easy apart 4rm 1 or 2, nw that Ramadhan is endin i jus wonder hw life is gnna b coz in Ramadhan we r so busy we hardly hav anytime 4 ourselves or any1.
We stay in remembrance of Allah (swt) thru out the day, pray more etc...Normally in Ramadhan is sehri, work, iftari, taraveeh n few hours in bed n then bk to sehri again...After this month shaytan is gnna b bk out again n sum pple r gnna go bk to themselves.
I just wish there was 11 months Ramadhan n 1 month without Ramadhan.
"Duniya toh badalti rehti hai...Ey mere Quaid tuh kabhi Na badal janaa"
its been hard and somewhat very trying this year
in a way glad it's nearly over
when it first started it was good
we'd sit and eat as a family (def never happens on a normal day, not with our family)
but then people are more moody, very tired and snappy. you feel it urself and end up taking it out on people
it has its good things as well as its bad
until next year
one of the Sahabi's used to love Ramadan sooo much, he would prepare 10 months in advance.....spiritually, mentally and physically
most of us only think about it a few days before
i think everyear people, including myself, say this year wasnt as good....but looking back afterwards, maybe it will be

i am gona miss the atmosphere in ramadan, wish time would stop. This month is so blessed more than we can ever know and understand. May Allah (swt) bless us with this beautiful month again. ameen.
Ameen sum'ameen!
After maghrib 2nite for us (the 1's that r celebrating eid 2moro) shaytan is gnna b bk out again
I just hpe that we can pik up the benefits of Ramadhan n act upon them to defeat him (shaytan)

I agree with what hayder said, you only realise how good ramadhan was for you after ramadhan finish and life goes back to normal. That when you look back at ramadhan and say too yourselves what you have achieved.
Another good thing about ramadhan is afterward you can look at the things that you still done wrong and know that it was due too ur own bad habits, so you know you have to put that extra effort in. Take Fajr, normally i will miss a couple a month however in ramadhan i found it so easy to do. I think you definitely have to analyse yourself after ramadhan too truely take full benefit from it.

I missed fajr cos family were hogging da bathroom
Life after ramadhan is finally here now :?
' Nay, verily! With me is my Lord, He will guide me ' {2662}
i h8 wen dat happens
It alwayz happens at fajr time, last eid i was waitin to go to the bathroom but uncle was in, then wen he gt out cuzin jumped in n so on...it ended up to a state were there were only 10mins left b4 the end of fajr's time.

moral of the story is................
dont leave your prayers to the last minutes!!

I dnt usually leave my prayers till last min, its only on eid coz evey1 wakes up early in da mornin togetha n sum pple can take aaaaaaaaaaaaages.

That is soo true my lil bor and sis take tym and a half (god knows what they do in there). The best solution is to av a bathroom rota and allocate certain amount of tym aloud. If they miss there turn then tough they av to wait till the end :D, works in our house

True, but doubt that will work in my houslehold  gna have 2 people less soon though (bro n sis in law got own place) so WOOHOO

The first few responses are a bit wierd. It is very strange to look at yourself and see no change and leave it at that. Surely those sentences should continue "...which is obviously unsatisfactory, so I will keep this feeling in mind and look out for opportunities to replace xyz habit with something uplifting or to listen more carefully to so-and-so" or something! Consider the consequences of going on the way you've been - what are those? What has your life been like? What are you acheiving? What are you not acheiving? What's missing? How could life be great for everyone? If anyone wants any help pointing out flaws that come across on the forum do ask. Seraph's new commitment is an impressive one. Just a few thoughts.
