Eid Party Cancelled due to Racism

Salma

I recently tried to organise an Eid Party at college as many Asian students complained that every year we have a Christmas party but we never do anything for Eid

The senior members of the college said the party was a good idea as it would be open to everyone and it would encourage others to experience a different culture

however, the student council (all white) and our student liason officer cancelled the party for reasons such as:

Asians cause fights and riots (there is alcohol at the xmas party yet this isnt a problem 4 them, y r asians ne different?)

outsiders will try to gatecrash the party (especially big asian mobs)

and there were several other RACIST points made

however, they convinced senior members of college and the party has been canceled

how is this in any way fair?

ne suggestions as to what action i should take?

i considered taking it to the papers, or starting up a petiton after half term

i thougth id ask permission from everyone first coz i cant afford to get sued for breaking some sort of copyright rule (im too skint)

but i'd like to get some of the islamic phrases printed on t-shirts as part of my petition against the eid party being cancelled (dont ask)

i think they will be very effective for getting our point across 😃

ne objections to using the phrases posted on this site let me no

TAKE THE SEAT ON THE COUNCIL THINGY if you take a defeatist attitude prepeare for defeat.

One asian in a bunch of white guys don't let it daunt you, if you don't take their offer then you miss an opportunity to be a force for good in you school for fellow oppressed people.

If they are BNP types do your research on Irish/ Welsh immigration to use on them if they make immigrants an issue also research on postitive effect of indians/pakistanis on the economy, fail to prepare...prepare to fail. Read Admins sig, you can make a difference, Okay! 🙂
