can you do it through college?

at my uni there was a place where you could do photocopying, and they also printed slogans on t-shirts.

try a local uni or reprographics. or ask around stationary places, or office supplies and they can point you in the right direction.
college def wont coz they are racist (dont ask)

i wouldn't know where to start, do you really think stationary shops do t-shirt printing? do you mean places like partners etc?

yashmaki — Thu, 27 Oct 2005 - 23:36

get a silk screen print print off t shirts in your living room loool. That would take you ages looool

u can have limited editions so up the prices collectors item
sirt printing can be done in piccadilly manchesTA!
where bouts though, i need the name of a place?

but itz going to have to be pretty cheap in order to make some money to send of for the earthquake appeal

come to think about it, there's more then one problem with this idea:

i'll probably get kicked out of college for stirring racial hatred 😢

i'll probabaly get sued by one of you lot for nicking your phrases 🙁

i think perhaps i need to re-think

If you want to raise money for the asia Quake appeal. A more cheaper way since you're at college, Organise a Ramadan Iftar.

Provide some food and get each person who attends to bring a large plate of food with them. Charge an entry fee nothing too big otherwise ppl might not attend. Make sure your poster details all this info and tell them proceeds go to Asian earthquake victims. Invite your teachers as well, send them personal invites.

Try get a few friends together and make food together so there's no shortage, the process of making food is charity too right! I'd help you if i was near enough 🙁

Maybe try get somebody to give a short speech on the asia earthquake and the islamic concept of charity. It doesn't have to be a scholar, in fact it's better if it's not. Youth respond better to their own peers, and if they're not really practising scholars an be off putting for them. You could do it yourself if you're a good speaker.

You could hold it after ramadan too. But I think ppls hearts are more soft in ramadan, perhaps from the lack of food. I've also noticed whenever free food is mentioned ppl run there in hoards to get a piece. Don't target your poster just towards muslims, make it open to all.

Obviously you might want to mention no pork or alcoholic dishes are taken if non muslims are attending. They may be unaware of the dietary rules.

You could do a girls only dinner aswell. If segregation will be a problem for the above.

Remember to split the food equally between sisters and brothers sections.
And make it welcoming to non muslims aswell.

It's too late for this now but consider it next year. I think it began in America but Fosis has taken it up, it's now a worldwide. lots of unis, schools, institutions, a sponsored national fast. Encouraging non muslims to fast and learn about its benefits and concept of charity. Proceeds from sponsors could go to an international charity not necessarily religion specific:

I love this fastathon site, it's green now tho looked nice in black :(. Check it out for advicem, turn on speakers: http://fastathon.org/

For british view and resources www.fosis.org.uk look for national fasting section.

we did a similar thing in uni last year. a restaurant donated food, and everyone paid for tickets to the iftari event - muslims and non muslims. proceeds went to charity. massive success.
