Hello New members ;)

You

Salaam

Thought I may aswell start this off as all past members will also need to re-register.

Inshallah we will be a friendly bunch here, but expect many firework displays as we all defend our positions.

EDIT

Just to avoid confusion, I have written some guidelines to choosing a name.

Wasalaam

Salaam

Thanx to all for being so welcoming
Welcome Fatima...hope u enjoy it here..pretty name btw.
lol i dont think my name sounds pretty.

Dont get me wrong its great to be named after the honourable Hadrat Fatima (r.a)

but the way its pronounced in Mirpuri is funny, they make you sound like an old lady

Its a good thing then that my family/friends call me by my surname which i prefer

(like for boys, Mohammed Ahves would be called Ahves not Mohammed)

Yeh some ppl tend to ruin the name but once pronounced properly it sounds beautiful.

My name is shortened to somethin i dont like! (and gues what its also in mirpuri lol)

Habibah
Habibah means "beloved/sweetheart"..how can you not like such a pretty name?

Omrow — Mon, 14 Nov 2005 - 14:45

Salam

It sounds masculine.

I can imagine calling a boy that name, but not a girl.

Omrow

MuslimSister — Mon, 14 Nov 2005 - 14:47

Boys are called Habeeb and girls are called Habibah...(I think)...But no, its not one of my favourite names either.

Omrow — Mon, 14 Nov 2005 - 14:50

Salam

Girls should not have variations of male names.

Each gender should have their own unique names.

Female names are meant to adorn a woman.

u cud equally say tht guys shudnt have male variations of female names, but in Arabic, both come down to the root word - neither is derived from the other.

Omrow — Mon, 14 Nov 2005 - 15:59

Salam

I don't like boys with girly names either.

You have a good name. Aseeya. So feminine. You won't need to do make up now.

Omrow

Angel — Mon, 14 Nov 2005 - 17:23

Omro your name sounds neither feminine nor masculine, its kinda in-between, however its unusual and i think i like it, what does it mean?

Angel — Mon, 14 Nov 2005 - 17:34
Far be it for me to teach an Angel.
oh come on no need to be mysterious, i have never come across it just curious to know what it means....

Dave — Mon, 14 Nov 2005 - 17:38

I noticed names seem more feminine to me if they end in A or have prominent A's in them...

And it doesn't appear to matter between cultures, if I heard the name Aasiyah outside of any context i'd just natureally assume it was a girls name.

Dawud — Mon, 14 Nov 2005 - 20:16

well Omrow is an anagram of "o worm"

maybe it means nothing but then again "twelve plus one" is an anagram of "eleven plus two"... 😃

Angel. Actually, I don't like my own name.

Its not a pretty name. I hate it.

Unlike me, its ugly.

No.

But I have been called a "God" a few times.

No kidding.

Ask admin.

They once gave me the status of "God" in the old forums.

It lasted for a few months.

Then they changed it to "Sultan".

Such blasphemy.
