JUST ENOUGH RELIGION TO HATE
with Shaykh Hamza Yusuf* and Br Abu Muntasir**
Date: Thursday 15th September 2005
Time: 6.30 pm - 10.15 pm
Venue: Friends House, 173-177 Euston Road, London, NW1 2BJ
"We have just enough religion to make us hate, but not enough to make
us love one another." - Jonathan Swift, Gulliver's Travels (1667-1745)
A special evening with Shaykh Hamza Yusuf and Brother Abu Muntasir
reflecting on recent events and examining ways forward for Muslims
in the UK as we strive towards uniting as a community. The event will
be chaired by Dr Usama Hasan. Tickets are £10 per head and can only be
purchased at the door. Spaces are limited so do make sure you arrive
early. Credit cards and cheques will not be accepted.
* Shaykh Hamza Yusuf Hanson was born in Washington State and raised
in Northern California. He accepted Islam in 1977 and subsequently
travelled to the Muslim world, studying for ten years in the UAE,
Saudi Arabia, as well as North and West Africa. He received teaching
licenses in various Islamic subjects from well-known scholars. After
ten years of studies abroad, he returned to the USA and took degrees
in Religious Studies and Health Care. He later founded the Zaytuna
Institute. He was the first American lecturer to teach in Morocco's
oldest University, the Kairoiuin in Fez. He has also translated a
number of classical Arabic texts and poems into English. He currently
resides in Northern California with his wife and four children.
** Abu Muntasir Ali is perhaps one of the most competent all round
speakers in the UK. He is currently the president of Jam'iat Ihyaa
Minhaaj As-Sunnah, a charity based in Ipswich, and is a Software
Engineer by profession. Br Abu Muntasir has been involved in da'wah
initiatives across the UK for over 20 years and has extensive
experience in both teaching and Muslim social affairs. As a pioneer
in the field of grassroots Islamic development, who is also well
travelled abroad, he has introduced a number of speakers who are
now well known in the UK. When many of today's vocal 'activists'
were crawling in their nappies, Abu Muntasir strived to raise the
word of Allah high. As a dedicated father of several children, he
makes time to organise the annual JIMAS conference in Leicester,
delivers lectures on a variety of relevant topics, and offers
sensible and practical advice to those who seek it.

Your mate didn't want to go. Otherwise I would have happily gone.
Plus you would have had to wait longer to get some food.
Plus you would have got home at a later time.
Plus it would have cost you a further couple of quid and a bit.
Maybe it was for the best. 😃

Yeah, I didn't get enough time to look at the stalls outside the mosque yesterday. There were some real bargins there, but the other brothers wanted to go to Alum Rock. 😢
But had to agree with Irf about Alum Rock. I didn't think it was too bad at first, till I discover that the tornado didn't hit the place, because that was the only excuse I could think of, because it was a dump  . I think it better to stay near Coventry Street, it no where near as bad.

I thought I'd show you around the Bullring. It's Birmingham's equivalent to the Trafford Centre or whatever. 'Going shopping' is for girls. 😛

i know where i was sat
anyways
beast........directions to ghamgol shareef plz, and whats the name of the train station?
JUST ENOUGH RELIGION TO HATE with with Shaykh Hamza Yusuf*
Closest station is Small Heath Station. It's on the same road as the mosque. You should be able to see the mosque as you come out of the station - it's on the other side of the roundabout.
Small Heath Station takes trains from Birmingham Moor Street. No trains go from Manchester to Moor Street as far as I can tell - so you'd have to walk from New Street Station to Moor Street. 2 min walk.
Are you coming down?
[quote="Darth V-Hayder"]yeah i knw :evil:

You didn't miss much. I'm sure Med would testify to this.
