Is social media a problem?

I like social media. Except the social part.

For news it is better than the normal stale organisations.

However there is often a tendency for people to jump on bandwagons and uncriitically support personalities and that can get annoying.

Social media platforms thrive on people jumping on bandwagons leading to a snowball effect. The real question is how do you measure execessiveness.
