Ministers block move to lift Official Secrets Act provding cover to perpetrators of child sexual abuse

It is quite surprising to come across : the government defeated a bill which would have given immunity to "whistle blowers" uncovering or reporting child sexual abuse by high profile individuals.

Recently it has been reported that there was an investigation into a high profile paedophile ring involving westminister, but it was closed down, all documents taken and the officers threatened under the official secrets act.

This government seems to talk the talk when it comes to uncovering historical crimes against children of a sexual nature, but it doesnt want to walk the walk.

A most interesting article. When we challenge People in Power [PIP's] and ask them to be more open and transparent. They say of course, "we believe in open government answerable to the electorate" then we see the above?

The ammendment for this bill was defeated by 295 MP's to 233. The move opposed by 254 Conservatives and 40 LibDem's. But Manns proposal was supported by 233 MP's in a vote taken at 9:15pm on the 23rd of Feb. 207 Labour, 8 Conservative and 3 LibDems.
