It has been known that webcams are easy to hack and any privacy conscious individual should put a piece over the webcam build into their laptops.
Criminals have been known to hack into webcams etc.
But now we know that the government has been watching the world's webcams on a massve scale. According to a report in The Guardian based on documents leaked by Edward Snowden, The UK GCHQ has been monitoring Yahoo on a massive scale. In one 6 month period they took/obtained pictures of 1.8 million people. None of this was targetted at criminals or potential terrorists. They simply spied on everyone.
While this was on Yahoo and between 2008 and 2010, don't expect it to be limited to that timeframe or that network

WHAT
Can it continue if I sellotape my webcam then? (Probably should've listened to your suggestion afterall)

try it in some camera application to see what can be seen, it will probably be enough.

Just everyone who has Yahoo?
That's what the leaked documents are about.
But if I was a betting man, I would say no, not just Yahoo.
People have been convicted of hacking webcams and if you can do it one way, you can do it another way.
Assume this was done for every method of communication.
(I havent touched on the fact that most phones these days have atleast one camera...)

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?
The rest of your comment made me chuckle but when i came to that my face went o_o
I am never talking when my laptop is on ever again!
T.
You don't need to take your laptop anywhere, thats a feature built into your phone (which I might add probably has TWO cameras, not one...)

How about when the laptop is switched off? I assume there's no spying..
I'm paranoid anyway, so I tend to use blue tack on my webcam!
