thats because unless like other forums this forum doesnt discriminate or spwak or discuss mattera with gender in mind!
what has this gotta do with what gender makes what posts its about knowing who your speaking to and giving them that correct modesty respect awareness and hayaa

TPOS — Sun, 2 Dec 2012 - 15:33

Considering it's a *public* forum, should the level of hayaa not be the same regardless of the gender of fellow posters?

How is that relevant to what I said?

You should be displaying the same level of hayaa regardless of whether I'm a guy or girl because this is a public forum. Therefore anyone can read and join in, things are not private. What dofference does it make to you whether I'm a guy or girl? On this public forum, there are things you just shouldn't say because it would be rude and innappropriate. And you don't need to be jokey or whatever, if that is an issue you are worried about. Just keep things honest and to the point and then it doesn't matter what gender  the poster is.

hayaa to man and women are done in different  ways i can speak like a friend to man but to a women that is not possible for it is harram, nor is a chit chat with women allowed for any men with women, joking or anythign else

now if i speak to women freely jokingly then where is the hayaa here thsi becomes freemixing

in a public forum people say jokes, people have normal conversation unnecessary chat between man and woman is harram in public forums freemxing is easy like face to face, you cant say were nt seeing eachother so we can just chat text message and use hand signs its still harram

when muhammad saw saw a men and women speaking after salah he would tell them to go home immediately and it wasnt flirting or anythign just a normal talk

so knowing who your speaking to is improtant

and from what i know a girl wouldnt want to be spoken to as if shes a men nor would a men want that

now people can easily tell im  man due to my name same cant be said for everyone

this is a public place you know joking is going to happen like fitna is open in the market place saying this doesnt have to be done isnt good enough for you know its going to happen

open place markets streets these are the palce for fitna it is hteir to happen so we shoudl protect ourselves from getting into this

and what difference does it make to me whether your brother or sister you want me to  call you a sister and talk to you reffering you to that

TPOS — Sun, 2 Dec 2012 - 19:56

Are you saying you wouldn't reply to a poster if they were female? Or are you saying you wouldn't be jokey with a female?

im saying i wouldnt joke or have unecessary chats with her  such as things about sports or general news

TPOS — Sun, 2 Dec 2012 - 20:08

Stay away from those topics on the forums then, they're obviously not that important so you can do without commenting on them?

FYI the regulars know each others gender and it's really not that much of an issue, but some people just may not want to rebeal their gender, that is up to them.

For future refernces, I am a girl.

_Me_ — Sun, 2 Dec 2012 - 20:14

Hang on, did you bring this up cause' you thought I was a 'brother' ? =\

yeah not everyone here is a regular

gender not being improtant to some thats some character we got here

well you jsut showed why a decent name and gender is improtant to know isnt it brother i mean sister

abualabbasassaffah — Sun, 2 Dec 2012 - 20:20
Hang on, did you bring this up cause' you thought I was a 'brother' ? =\
no thats got nothing to do with this

but the fact why one of the reason this forum is inferior to the rest is this reason not getting the basics right

Stating the forum is inferior to the rest and needs to 'fix-up' is YOUR opinion. No one else seems to have a problem with it. Whether you're a male/female has not got anything to do with how good/bad a forum is. It purely comes down to a person's intention.

You — Sun, 2 Dec 2012 - 20:38

1. If you do not know the gender of the person you are replying to, it should help to maintain the utmost of hayaa.

2. You dont need to joke around. I doubt most people will with your posts anyway, but it is best to maintain the best of manners at all times regardless of the gender of the other people replying.

3. Since it is a public forum, even if you are addressing a specific gender, people of other genders will read the post too.

4. I dont see how it breaks the rules on modesty by not publicly portraying the gender of the posters. The posters can let you know if they are male or female if they feel like it, but generally it shouldn't be necessary.

5. I think most members accept that no gender is specified on here even if not agree.

So you agree that the solution is for you to not bother in posting in unneccsessary forums? Great.

Also was that supposed to be a insult? Calling me a brother? Cuz I really don't and wouldn't care if you continued to call be "brother". Being called brother or sister is irrelevant to the message of the posts (hence why the gender is too!) you know people could lie about being a guy or girl, right? It is the internet!

unless the person sia  freak of nature then no normal person would do that

TPOS — Sun, 2 Dec 2012 - 21:56

How are you gna distinguish the freak from te normal? There's a lot of freaks on the Internet.

the speach style is always a big give away even in writing

for example with you and sister "me" i had a feeling your sisters due to your writing style

but it was hard to tell even then i wasnt fully confirmed but hinted mroe towards that direction

and even if were not fully sure in the internet at the end of the daytheir will always be the reliable members and the not so ones atleast confirm what the reliable ones are were dealing with gender here not munafiqs

TPOS — Sun, 2 Dec 2012 - 22:36

Deleted. I think I know what you're getting at, and having just finished this debate, don't want to open another unnecessary one.

LookingToSee — Mon, 3 Dec 2012 - 22:29

LOL indeed.

@Abusomething. u just sound creepy when you're not a regular and you want to know everybody's gender.

secondly. round here, we all get to know each other, then, we find out what gender we are. but that usually happen when people are willing to stick around and make friends and that. this leads to this AWESOME and INDEFICIENT website where a lot of us know each other in real life/wld be willing to meet in real life and/or communicate by some other mean already. email/fb/texts.

if you find it deficient and lower than average. feeel freeeeeee to leave. and guess what? the exit door is on every SINGLE page. its the little cross in the corner of your tab. or the white cross in the red box in the top right corner of your window. ah technology, how you suprise us everyday.

and wld you please not disspeople and their names?. and sometimes you say things, it sounds like you're insulting in a sly way, is that on purpose? im genuinely asking because i dont want to accuse you without proof/confirmation. if you are insulting slyly. please stop. (yeah, this time i wnt ask a question...)

Showing people's genders will cause more harm than good. Not everybody has good intentions and some people will chat purely to the opposite gender because they are the opposite gender.

Btw imo most members on this forum are female under the age of 25. A few guys here and there but not much.

TPOS — Tue, 4 Dec 2012 - 15:32

Good observation, see you don't even need to be a regular to have some idea of the demographics.

that would expose the individual and their true intentions and character

You — Tue, 4 Dec 2012 - 20:30

That assumes that people dont want to become better.

If something helps them, then its good.

I don't think it's an awful idea. With people changing their usernames and remaining on familiar terms it can get especially confusing, and then one wouldn't wish to be taken for a flirt. Sometimes in Tribune or a PM the tone is especially friendly, and in other cases I have considered offering to meet up or invite someone to an event, but in the case of a younger female member, generally that would obviously not be appropriate. Then again it has never been a problem. I propose moving this thread into General where various opinions can be more widely considered, and putting a poll in it.
