Riot victim's father Tariq Jahan convicted of GBH

The Birmingham father who called for calm just hours after his own son had been killed in last summer's rioting in Birmingham has been convicted of GBH.

Tariq Jahan was given a 12 month suspended sentence with 100 hours of unpaid work after being found guilty of attacking a man in a road rage incident.

Speaking exclusively to the BBC, Mr Jahan was asked whether he felt he'd let down all the people who thought he was a hero.

I caught the end of this story on the news the other day and all I knew was it had something to do with him. Didn't find anything about it when I tried looking for it.

What's the full story? He claims self-defence?

Jahan, 46, assaulted Sajjad Ali after an argument outside Mr Ali's workplace in Handsworth on 6 July last year, Birmingham Crown Court was told.

Mr Ali, 33, told jurors Mr Jahan accused him of "staring at my missus".

Humans have weaknesses.

We dont really know what happened, but this does not diminish what he did later.

Yeah we get your point Lollywood, its kind of like you did it on purpose but then again you do say: 'My English is not very good'..

And back onto the topic.. I think his actions after the death of his son overpowers his conviction.. So, its best to look at the good things he did, rather than pick out his faults Biggrin

Next time a criminal injuries or kills someone he’s just goin to say that it was destined to happen so I haven’t done anything wrong and that’s dangerous territory to be stepping on

Your pretty good at twisting words Wink
And the so called 'criminal' also has freewill.. Smile
And deciding on whether you've done something wrong depends on guilt and your feelings towards others!

Do criminals ever feel guilt? Coz if they did then they would not commit the atrocity in the fist place
