Did You Know???

Aslamalaikum Everyone,
So Okay I was writing a letter to my uncle in Hong Kong and I got told that whenever writing a letter in urdu you put the number 786 at the top.
Why You Ask Me?
This is because in the quran bismillah is written 786 times. I know Cool isn't it? Smile

Why not just write Bismillah then?

Weird :/

That's not right. It's actually got something to do with how each letter represents a number and all the letters in bismillah add upto 786.

Also apparently thats a load of rubbish too. Is it?

well I don't know about you guys but, my teacher told me this and she is my ustaad so I can't really say that it is a pile of rubblish to her can I?
AS for Rawr18, would u rather write 3 numbers or bissmilahirahmanirahim when writing a letter, try writing it in urdu and It will literally take a line!

To write 786 in lieu of the Basmala is permitted. The numeral 786 represents the abjad [letter-numeral] value of the Basmala [Bismillaah al-Rahmaan al-Raheem]. If there is fear of disrespect for the Basmala if written in full then it may be preferable to use the number 786 instead. Occasional use of abjad numerals has long been current among the Ulema.

cool, u got an uncle in hong kong!! (wish i did)

au contaire to what everyone else has said, I thought 786 stood for Allah??? i know theres a nasheed group called 786....
