Baroness Warsi banned from attending GPU by David Cameron

Your deliberate ignorance, your intellectual debasement, blows my mind.

The article gives some very good reasons why the Tories are staying away. Good for them, and good for Tahir ul-Qadri, and let the government not try to do what he is doing because they cannot.

I don't think that it actually matters. I mean, he can stop her from going to a GPU event, but he can't stop her from voicing out her opinions, can she? If she's chair of the Conservatives, well, I reckon it's gonna take a lot more for David Cameron to defeat her. And simply because she was told not to attend, it doesn't mean anything. We don't know what the PM does behind Downing St. He may ask for her advice, and then ask her not to go. We can't be judgemental when we don't know all the facts. And I don't trust the Guardian much. It's all tabloid.

Growing old is inevitable but growing up is an option [:

Yeah but she's going to have to say things which also don't go against the conservative view.

Muslim cabinet minister Baroness Warsi pulled out of defending the burqa at an international TV debate because of “government pressure”, it was claimed today.

THis deprived her of presenting her views infront of an audience of up to 350 million people, so no small cake.

Empty words.

Some of what the new government has done since coming into power has been good, but that does not mean that these two acts are. It jsut shows how poor the last one was on many occasions.

The picture of Warsi with the report in the Evening Standard seems to be not very flattering... I wonder if the picture was chosen deliberately to make her look bad?

As a right wing politician (she is a tory), why is she being invited to a peaceful event such as the GPU. What does she/the Muslims expect?

You have committed yourself to the system, it will control you and dictate to you what you can and cannot do. Also Islam channel inviting a person who supports injustice.. Somethingz not right there.

Sheikh Hakim Murad was at his eloquent best, and summed up everything - the event and the World in its current state - in His invigorating style during such a short period.

We need more like Him and Insha'Allah He is preserved for longevity and becomes the face for British [European/Western] Muslims.

It's not meant as an ad hominem, no matter his humility Admin is someone with intelligence and this thread opened with a tabloid-style, rabble-rousing, debased misinterpretation. Admin is respected here and his views are steering views, and the fairly widespread attitude that repositions the Conservative party as if they were the BNP or neo-Nazi is an out-and-out smear, one I didn't expect from him. I really was that disappointed. It matters specifically because that view is essentially extremist agitprop. That's all. On reflection I understand Admin's own disappointment over the issue and perhaps I could have phrased that response with better goodwill. And then, we don't have to agree.

I don't think I like the idea of being taken as anything but a crackpot.

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

It may not be the same Conservative party, but that is when Cameron "grew up" and looking around him at the politicial situation in the UK, he thought "This Tory party... it is something I want to be a part of", so there is some truth to it.

(I am not saying that Thatcher was bad. I have not realy studied it and maybe what she did was necessary...)

True, it has to be called the same thing for a reason.

But it's obviously a more refined version
