Why Is It So Much Easier To Be Bad?

MuslimSister

Salaam

The text below is a bit of a rant, so bear with me please…

Why is it that if one wants to be bad it’s incredibly easy for them to do so, however if they wanted to be good it’s sometimes next to impossible?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot for the last few days…..I’ve noticed that if I want to be “good” its as if I have all the odds stacked against me, yet if I want to be “bad” its incredibly easy.

For e.g. if I say to family that I want to take all the kids to the cinema, they encourage me to go and even pull out the money……yet if I tell them that I’m going to some Islamic programme/Dhikr they pull faces and make silly comments……

If I’m getting ready for a wedding they make comments and tell me not to cover my hair-yet if I told them that I’m going to dye my hair blond, cut it short, wear a sheer Sari, bear my back and midriff I’m sure most of them wouldn’t bat an eyelid…….

If I’m sitting reading a book whilst the family is watching some crappy Bollywood film they all start on me……

If I don’t contribute to petty/shallow discussions they all start on me for being “too quiet”- Is that even a reason to start on a person?!!

If I’m with people who are telling me about some x-rated incident, its so much harder to tell them that they really shouldn’t be doing stuff like that-in case they take it personally……

This takes place out of the home as well….I’ve been dying to get into any Islamic School for some time now, I have plenty of experience and am even willing to work voluntary yet not one school is willing to offer me a job…yet every other place that I’ve applied to such as, retail/bank etc have all called me for an interview…..but I’m not interested in working in such places, so I don’t turn up to the interviews…..

I used to think that if one wants to lead a good life they need to overcome their desires and practise self-control in restraining from the forbidden….but its not as easy as that….external factors such as family/friends and society etc have always bothered me more…..

In the past whenever dad had said I can’t do something/go somewhere- I went anyway, without his knowledge….A few months ago I told him to drop me of at someone’s house cos there’s a Mehndi going on….there was no Mehndi it was an Islamic meeting in the presence of a prominent scholar…..

These things make me feel bitter and this is a negative emotion…I dislike all negative emotions… it takes a lot of energy to fight and be stubborn/rebellious and do stuff undercover…I give up at times, and this is wrong too…..

Anyways share your thoughts on all of the above…

ok bro, explain yourself- WHAT ILK ARE THE REVIVAL PEOPLE?
You saw Zahid Maqbool, the media spokesman for The Revival on Channel 4. You thought 'no beard, no topi, no salwaar kameez'- astagfirullah 😃 am I right?

so bro, if you're gonna label us or have a go then at least be open about it, we're big boys, we can take it.

wasalaam
I do not care to explain myself and secondly did i say anything abt beards or topis or shalwar kameez? I dnt think so so dnt assume it makes an donkey of U and ME

I dont know whether to take that as a compliment or be offended, should i laugh or cry?

Please elaborate.

what exactly is it abt me that so surprises Lady Muslima ?!
LOL-she means ur one of a kind

u dont get many people like u out there

esp not British Muslims

its up to you to take it as a cuss or a compliment 😉

p.s what does ILK mean?

AbdusSalamBiharwi — Wed, 3 Aug 2005 - 17:23

Ilk means a kind of person; "I don't like people of his ilk"

K but i dont want u lot to think im some nutter like HT or Al Muhajiroun.

I m NOT an extremist nor do i support any bombings on civilians or any nutty thing like that.

I always considered myself to a person treading the middle path between the extremes of the graveworshippers on one hand and the nonconformists on the other.

I assure you that I am not alone, perhaps on this forum i am alone but there are loads of other muslims with same understanding as me. Only thing is they less sinful than me and probably dont waste their time on the net!

why make a comment about what type of people the revival are and then u dont want to explain yourself. you dont have to like us, we dont mind

so what do you mean? you are alone- how?

so bro, simple question: are you a deobandi or someone from the tablighi jamaat? if you are just say so, whats there to be worried about? yes there are many tablighis in the world, that sgood, just like there are millions of ppl from all school of thoughts, groups, sects. organisations etc.

there are some ppl on this forum who agree with u and some who dont, same with me, and many others- it happens!

the problem with you is you dont explain yourself clearly, you keep referring to your scholars without convincing people about exactly what you believe and why. Also some evidence evry now and then will be useful, so we can learn from each other.

i hope you understand what i'm trying to say....

AbdusSalamBiharwi — Fri, 5 Aug 2005 - 23:28

lol!

We reply unabashed that alhamdulillah thumma alhamdulillah we are from Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah

we follow Imam Abu Haneefah alayhi rahmah in fiqh.

Our silsila is Chishti but alhamdulilllah our Shuyookh are also connected with the other chains.

In aqeedah we are acceptors of Imam Ashari and Imam Maturidi!

Lol what is there to be ashamed or abashed about?

I openly declare that I am from the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah.

We believe in Finality of Prophethood of Nabi salallahu alayhi wa sallam, we believe that Sahabah Karaam were all pious and upright and it is not for us to label any1 of them with anything other than the utmost respect/ We love and honour the Ahle Bayt, including the progeny of Sayyidina Ali, Sayydina Abbas, Sayyidina Jafar, Sayyidina Aqeel and also included amonsgst the Ahle Bayt are the Pure Wives of Nabi salallahu alayhi wa sallam.

We follow the four mujtahid imams in fiqh and follow the four chains in tasawwuf.

We reject the laxity of the deviants and also the extreme beliefs of the other deviants.

For us the Quran is our light and the Sunnah our light.

What is the shame in that?

We are AHLUS SUNNAH WAL JAMA'AH

Saint. How could you forget Jiles.

Anyway, back to the topic.

Its is not easy being "bad". Infact, its miserable.

Just go and ask a lap dancer if she is happy.

Bad people would give anything to be good. The problem is that they are not aware of any goodness.

They are not convinced that it even exists. They think it is just a dream. A fantasy.

MuslimSister — Tue, 9 Aug 2005 - 10:10

I disagree.

It’s incredibly easy to be bad. One faces little or no opposition.

This is because our Nafs (ego) inclines towards evil. To be “good” one must defeat their Nafs-which isn’t easy at all.

But you’re right though that being “bad” does bring misery and depression. This is because one can only find peace and happiness in the Dhikr (remembrance) of Allah (swt).

And those who may be far away from the Dhikr of Allah (swt) can never be happy or stress free.

That means she is lying. She is hiding her misery from you.

Why should she reveal her inner emotions to an outsider?

So you have to ask her in a different way.

She will confess her true feeling to her friends.

Thats a whole lot of de-nial.

Maybe they hav trust issues and believe they cant really trust people.

God knows I do. Theres a whole bunch of people out there that would call themselves my friends... but i'd probably only agree with 2 of them.

Friends are people i trust implicitly... everyone else are colleagues, Acquaintances and people im just too polite to tell them to P*** off.

u'd think in all that time you would have checked your spellings

Seraphim — Wed, 15 Aug 2007 - 14:24

LOL!

I just went the forums very last page and picked out the most interesting topics and bumped them up to the top.

Since everything else has died a horrbile and death.

Though best to bring back some old topics.

Spelling is down to point of view.
