Self motivation...
...is difficult.
There are so many things, I want to finish that I have started.

That reward stuff doesn't really work for me. Unfortunately. But I know it works for many people, so good for you.
Re: Self motivation...
lol @ You: 'motivate' is the new buzz word. As in...today some guy was annoying me so I motivated my fist into his face. Problem solved.
@ s.b.f. Maybe you need to accept that the thigns that need to get done, aren't going to be fun. When I was in final year, the only way my assignments and dissertation done was by sitting myself down infront of the computer and saying to myself, "you can play as many games as you want, you can take as many breaks as you like...but you're not leaving this chair until the work is done."
It is a bitter pill in the beginning, so my advice is just start now. Don't do it later, start now. Now is a good time to start. The current moment is dope. Do it, don't not do it. Start it, so you can finish it. Start now.

Thanks.
Okay.
Right.
Sitting on a chair.
1. Review three articles.
2. Summarise and relate them.
3. Write about the intial problem.
4. Reflect.
5. Breathe.
Have you ever tried to motivating yourself to go to sleep? Or other things you enjoy?
Its probably a matter of what you are trying to get motivated for that is a factor in this.
On the other hand if you enjoyed it, you would be motivated already and not need any more...
