So far... the UK government did not believe that Iraq was connected to Alqaeda, nor did it think it had chemical weapons.

Not that simple - some of the stuff coming out is interesting - like how the US regime was intent of regime change from the 90's, before Bush got into power, but he was the one who was in position when there was a need for some "emotional outpouring" - which everyone basically knew, but it actually being confirmed is not a bad thing.
