Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced he will back a Palestinian state - but only if it is completely demilitarised.
He said a Palestinian state must accept the existence of Israel and must have no army, no control of its air space and no way of smuggling in weapons...
Read just a little bit more @ BBC News
(I think you can safely replace "no way of smuggling in weapons" with "No border control")
As they say, proof is in the pudding (do they say that?).
every country has an army don't they? If palestine get rid of their army who will protect their ppl, the Israeli army? Why should Israel get to keep their army? Does this statement suggest they would hold ultimate authority over the Palestinians if there were a two state solution?. If so it would not really be two states, just Israel controlling Palestinians right, or am i completely wrong?
see here:
From the bbc website.
I personally think his statement about wanting peace and two state solution is just being used to fire up more hatred, he has no intentions of allowing a two state solution, his comments on the link YOU gave explains it all.
“O my people! Truly, this life of the world is nothing but a (quick passing) enjoyment, and verily, the hereafter that is the home that will remain forever.” [Ghafir : 39]
Yes, especially as they will also have control of the borders (so anything that goes in or out) and the airspace.
It will be like having Gaza and Gaza 2 - and they will have someone else they can blame for the humanitarian disasters. Not that the PA has any sort of a decent record.

this seems familliar...world war 1 germany..that resulted pretty well no?
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane, by those who couldn't hear the music...
I don't see any similarities.

disarmmament...demilitirisation it was reduced to a 100,000 men in the german army back then that was huge reduction...which ticked the germans off fuel for revenge...etc
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane, by those who couldn't hear the music...
That was not the bit that ticked them off. Well, it was, but there was loads of other stuff to it too... I would not say the situations are similar apart from people being forced to live with less.
The Palestinian lands will probably not become the next nazi germany.

as hegel said all we learn from history is we learn nothing...it was one of the many reasons that they were so annoyed and you cant dismiss that a removement of a nations army wont annoy people at the least, i wouldnt be suprised if extremist groups gain support because of such a move, i agree there arent a huge amount of simmilarities but it seems the blame for the warring of the two nations is being put on palestine if this was to happen.

There may be small similarities, but that is the way of life - if you compare any two things, you can find some similarities.
However by suggesting the situation as similar to Germany, you are also suggesting that events will unfold in a similar manner which will result in much murder and loss of life.

well we've seen on plentyfull occasions that history repeats itself, however i dont think it will lead to that scale but i dont see how from a neutral point of view how this could do any good.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane, by those who couldn't hear the music...
From a neutral or even pro Palestinian point of view, if this improves the lives of Palestinians, it would be seen as a positive step.
However that does not mean that their situations will become normal because of it - just less bad.
And then when this "demilitarised non-country" feels too curtailed, cut off, feels the pinch of the restrictions has groups that develop their weapons, things will return back to the current normal if not worse - it will end up cut off from the rest of the world like Gaza is atm.

Theoretically that could be a possible solution but its difficult to say whether or not the palestinians would find peace because of possible militant attacks on israel and blame the reprecussions on a lack of army..or it might create peace.

I could see something like that as a catalyst for more nationalism among Palestinians. Especially if they see no help from other Muslims, or from the governments of Muslim-majority countries. This would be one similarity to central Europe post-WWI, but then again their has been an recent increase in nationalism (and especially smaller states within large countries) around the world.
To be honest, I thought in terms of the Arab world then trend has been a move away from pan-Arabism to a more 'global ummah' form of identity.
At least among general populations if not with their governments/rulers.
If Palestine feels cut off from this, perhaps because they don't see the protests from every major city in the world, it could lead their internal politics to become even more backward and chaotic.
Don't just do something! Stand there.
It is offering the Palestinians what they have now, but without the right to want for more or to defend themselves.
Settlement activity will be allowed to continue as "it is natural growth" even though it is growing at a smaller pace than the Palestinians.
What this "solution" does allow is to let Israel remain a Jewish state as they will not be outnumbered by the Palestinians who are in another state/prison camp.

welcome to the real world.
Avigdor Lieberman, the foreign secretary of Israel, as part of any deal want to *evict* any arabs/palestinians that are living peacefully with Israel atm on Israeli land.
It does not matter if its the best deal they are going to be offered - sometimes the offer cannot be accepted. It's like offering a person a choice to be killed slowly and painfully or fast. I am sure most will choose to live instead...
...and they will get a better offer. Situation on the ground is changing and the Gaza catastrophe that happened earlier this year changed the minds of some people. And the American government also may not give Israel a free pass to do whatever they was as they have had til now.

He has said it is a good starting step or something. If he does support the offer... it will go nowhere fast as you need people on the ground to actually accept it.
Interesting times when Israel has to at least look like it is serious about negotiating. Even here, some of the coalition partners would not be happy with calling what the Palestinians have now with no changes a Palestinian state.
I always get the impression that Israel always offers things in a way so as to not get them accepted - but that is probably because I have some inherent bias in my views of the world.
It was sharon who said to hit the Palestinians so hard they they beg for what Israel wants to give them and this seems like an extension of the same policy.
Aah, the one state solution. I personally like the sound of that, but it is a non starter for both sides as the Palestinians do not want that, and it is the same with the Jews as they will be outnumbered by the Palestinians and the state will no longer remain Jewish.
What separation allows is for Israel to remain a Jewish state because the Palestinians will not be equal citizens/citizens at all.

It is to do with many things, so simplifying it into one or two is probably wrong.
But with power, numbers matter. Power is generally a matter of how you perceive things. If you get a great mass of people all organised and following the same agenda in a meticulous manner, they will overcome the people with the power. This is mostly referred to as revolution.
Revolution generally (but not always) be evil as those that lead it normally have some agenda they want to implement.

You are so naive
bullet point sentences/answers get you far in life.
(on the revival it does, it means more people will read and reply)
I disagree. I think in general the first generation of leaders after a revolution tend to practice what they preach. It's what comes after them that seems to go back downhill.

Netanyahu is clutching at straws. Israelis knows their end is near.
Iran is about to wipe them off the face of the earth. In next war, Jews in Palestine are history. Israelis will be severely punished for their crimes against the innocent civilians of Palestine. Zionist project has failed and soon it will be erased.
Allah has destined Jews to be anhialated. This promised is about to come true.
Allah always fulfills His prmoises.

Israel is dead. It just needs burial.
Ayatollah wants to hang the dead body and crucify it for all the world to see.
Israelis are most evil and racists people ever lived on earth.
Allah curse them for killing innocent women and children by bombs and starvation.
Israel is finished. It has committed to many sins against God.

Err... you do realise the Ayatollah has a much shorter future in politics than Israel, don't you?
