I don't really have a favourite seat, normally it's first available or one that isn't in a crowded part. It's nice to sit at the back and see everyone, or the top front for a rollercoaster experience narrowly avoiding trees and low bridges. Or to be in the thick of things. That deranged psycho was sat top front right. This guy's bog standard and purely intuitive observations on the subject were in today's news so voila.

Travellers who automatically head for the rear downstairs are said to be risk-takers who like to sit on elevated seats because it makes them feel important.

There's probably a grain of truth but it isn't proper research unless he followed people around before making his phony assessments. Anyway there it was in the paper and we were discussing it. I imagine anyone of us could come up with those observations given a simple diagram of the bus layout.

yup, it was an interesting read. Some of it more logical than others.

I am interested on which side as I used to prefer sitting on the left (you can see out ahead of you), but now seem to favour the right.

I did not like sitting next to the emergency exit, but now I do. More leg room. (I still however prefer the first higher seat on single decker busses.)

On a long coach ride, I prefer somewhere far from the toilet and where people won't be walking past to and from it. Either near the front or on a double decker the back of the upper deck. But I remember the stench so well I haven't used a UK coach in ages.
