What's the big hoo-haa about clubbing?

i know its kinda late but...

i'm not really interested in clubbing but maybe its becauz im too young...

also i've grown up with alcohol, drugs, music, mixing with oposite sex is wrong, haraam BUT i've understood WHY, i think thats why im not really tempted...

i think someone said dancing is not allowed or haraam... who ever said that? any hadith or Qur'anic verses? dancing with ur mates and couzins, whats wrong with THAT? (as long as its single sex)

i voted "Astaghfirullah! I've never been clubbing and would never dream of it."

but i think its too uptight and religious and the second option said i went but i didnt so...

what i would hav said would be something like "naah, there too many things haraam going on, not worth and that's how its going to be"

and just imagine u get a heart attack and die right there in the club! whats gonna happen? u gonna get resurected with those people right?

i think people take music too lightly its wrong (not that i havent fallen for it but im trying!) that's why i look for halal music, like only duff or nasheed but they kinda are boring you cant deny so i found "native deen" and im quite happy at the moment... at the moment...

and after all is this life not the believer's prison and the disbeliever's paradise and the next life our paradise?

I think thats the position with alot of people. They've grown up around this kinda stuff and have as a result become desensitised to it all.

lol, i agree. I find nasheeds and such BORING. They're not much in the way of music if you ask me.

Actually, there are some v.good nasheeds out there. Native Deen are among the best because you can actually relate to them as a teen and they have v.powerful lyrics. Theres also Hamza Robertson, a new nasheed artist, some of 786 trax are good, and finally Wajid Akhtar! youtube them and let me know what u think! if ur into slow types of nasheeds let me know too - im a nasheed bank lol 🙂

And I used to go clubbing when I wasn't a Muslim and I didn't like it. But I DID like going TO the club and coming home from it a LOT.

Night buses in London (when you are a kafir) are great fun!

yeah i remember when i was younger (yr 7) me and my friends used to have so much fun on the bus when we was going home but the other people on the bus sure didnt like it

Obviously if music is an issue then all clubbing's out, but it occurred to me that we haven't mentioned live music (excluding DJs) which is a far healthier scene, and doesn't quite so much imply a boozy or pilly night. I like the live music scene.

I used to go to metal gigs all the time, even though I didn't like the music at all, I just liked mosh-pitting (I was about 15, in my defence). I even bunked off double English on a Friday afternoon to be in the background of a music video which was never released by a band that no1 has heard of.

But music festivals were the 'best' of both worlds... if the weather was OK.

I think one of the least pleasant things I ever saw was on a night bus, when a big stocky and paranoid man started issuing death threats. But I do enjoy making my way across London on foot and by bus having missed the last trains.

I used to travel on night buses (and late trains) all the time. No-one really talked to me (I think that was a good thing though!) I witnessed a number of crimes :s and came across many scary weirdos :shock: (including many drugged up and drunk homeless folk who use the bendy buses as free sleeping accommodation!) My advise: always sit near the exit, driver and camera! :shock:

We had a 'prom' which we called the Leavers Ball, it consisted of people drinking, music (not too loud - thankfully) and dancing. The drinking we didnt do well alcohol or the dancing.

It was a bunch of us that went, it was okay, had a limo ride (which was very fun back then) and we had pics taken which was a nice memory (mind you dont know where they are), got picked up at 12am (thats the latest i've been out for a non-islamic event!).

Overall it was not bad, the good thing is it had its memories.
