salams,
we've just completed an inspector calles by j.b priestly for our GCSE's, and it is the most suspensefull book i have ever read in my life! however i dont fully understand the ending. if anyonw has read or studied it, would u care to explain. and other comments on the book.
Its interesting because priestly does use the book as portal to voice his communist ideologies and its quite clear that its a blatant negative portrayal of capitalism.

If your going to try to sound intelligent in a post, at least get the grammer correct!

then surely there would be no "a" and blatan is an adjective whereas blatantly is an adverb, right?
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane, by those who couldn't hear the music...
You are correct to take out the 'a'. Well done, have a gold star. You could also put a comma after 'blatant'.
I read an Inspector Calls for GCSE but cannot remember anything about it other than the title.
Don't just do something! Stand there.
but what was wrong with writing blatant?
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane, by those who couldn't hear the music...
Nothing, but since you said it was both 'blatant' AND 'negative' you need to put in a comma since you are listing properties of something.
Don't just do something! Stand there.
Can we not get bogged down in this grammer correcting... its very tedious.
Unfortunately i barely remember the basic plot line to 'An Inspector Calls', but it was such a long time ago. I dont really remember much about it.

or even a semi colon.

But it was funny seeing steinbeck vent his frustrations with women through the portrayal of curlys wife but the book was pretty good.

do you 2 have to be so annoying?
its sortov mandatory, and we will stop if you dont quit the editorial team.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane, by those who couldn't hear the music...
That should have a capital letter at the beginning, Noor. I was going to say that the number '2' is not an adequate substitute for a preposition, but didn't want to sound pedantic.

To Kill a Mockingbird kicks Mice and Men's ass anyday! Mockingbird is about racism in Alabama, the alienation of people and a lawyer and father (Atticus Finch) who tries to raise his children in the 1930s/40s.
It's an excellent read and way better than of Mice and Men. Very relevent to Muslims today.
Chin up, mate! Life's too short.
Neither can I lol. I cant believe that they are still using that book!
We're all going to have to mind our Ps and Qs now that teacher Ya'qub is about. Wheres an apple when you need it? Erm, Im off to read a dictionary now.

mouse and men is a quality 'tail' . . .
Sorry to ruin the ending for you, but it turns out the Zebra did it.
Don't just do something! Stand there.
What?, NO! The Zebra!!!? I thought the butler did it!
(edit: I just realised why you said Zebra lol. How did I not get that?)

Ive got a long list of classic and modern books that I want to read. Of mice and men is one lower down in the list. Going from what you guys are saying, I think i'll move it further up! :o

NO ONE in the right mind would put Of Mice and Men above To Kill a Mockingbird! It's impossible!
Chin up, mate! Life's too short.
OK what's that about?
Chin up, mate! Life's too short.
You've gotta read it to find out! (Enjoy!)

Ditto. i did to kill a Mockningbird at GCSE it was brillant! Also watched the film which was in black and white but it didnt put me off. Gregory Peck did justice to the role of Atticus Finch.

I read Of Mice And Men for GCSE and thought it was really really good.
In my English Literature A Level exam I got the question 'Write about a book you have read.' And I picked Of Mice And Men.
I haven't read any of the others mentioned.
I completely disagree. If you read a good tafsir, it can open your mind to some of the 'hidden' messages inside: My favourite is why it is important to read Suratul-Kahf every Friday, and how it relates to our everyday lives.
