How to make Popcorn?

There’s nothing like watching a movie whilst eating popcorn hmmm. But they are soooooo over priced it’s a blatant rip off!! So your home this Friday night and got nothing to do, so you’re about to pop in a movie but shock horror, there’s no popcorn. Of course you could always watch the movie without popcorn but that’s like … lame. You want something to munch. Or for those saddo’s who don’t watch movies (yes… that’s right. Im calling you a saddo… WHAT YA GOING TO DO??) but you still want a light snack that’s easy at hand and not likely to make you go fat. Presto theres popcorn. Quick, easy to make, and with the minimum cals.

Enough of the rant. Here’s how we make it:

What you’ll need?

    Dried Corn (available at any decent corner shop)
    -A saucepan with a lid
    -Some butter/Olive oil
    -Table Salt.

Method

    Step 1) Add some butter to the sauce pan and heat until it melts. You're basically only doing this so the corn doesn’t stick to the pan when you heat it. So it just really needs to cover the bottom part.

    Step 2) Next pour in just enough corn to cover the bottom of the sauce pan. You just want the one layer across the bottom of the sauce pan.

    Step 3) Pop the lid on, and sit back until you start hearing popping sounds. When they really seem to be popping, CAREFULLY grab the sauce pan (with the lid still on!) and lift it off the cooker and perform a sort of tossing action. I prefer to do this anti-clockwise. But whatever really works for you. What you're basically doing is moving the already popped-corn to the top whilst moving the unpopped-corn to the bottom.

    Step 4) When the popping sounds seems to have died out. Turn the heat off. And give it a minute or two, before you lift the lid (otherwise the corn will continue to pop right out of the saucepan). And then pour into a large bowl.

    Step 5) Add salt and enjoy.

In my grandad's day, they didn't have movies or television.

The internet was only online for four hours a day, and it was in black and white. All the family would sit around watching clips of Chris Tarrant on Youtube. He would say "we don't want to give you that," which was very funny. For the first year.

At the end they would log off, and then stand up and sing the National Anthem.

I had popcorn yesterday but wasnt watching a movie 😃 Prefer homemade popcorn to cinema popcorn any day. Cinema popcorn they put too much salt in it.

I always scoff all the popcorn before the movie starts. I cant concentrate fully on the movie if im eating plus my munching it too loud so i end up missing something crucial lol.

I dont want to sound rude or anything.

But why all the cooking recipes (did i spell that rite :doubt:)? It just seems... out of character. Although i dont know you personally, ive been reading thru the forums for a while and this throws me a little.

I have many interests. Cooking passes the time, allows for creativity and I dont like relying on others for things i.e. food prep in this case.

Lol, what? I dont remember bumping into Sumaiya at the IslamExpo? Are you sure she didnt mistake Ed for me? haha. Altho I hav to admit i was surprised at the number of people who did recognise me from the articles i wrote.

We were giving out mags and a few people who were walking past sorta recognised me (from my expo pass.. which had my name on it and obviously so do all my articles) and they put two and two together. That was an awkward moment lol.
