I clearly remember a certain someone getting worked up about the fact they would have to give up pizza for 30 days lol. Isnt pizza classed as takeaway food?

Cant have take out food everyday, once/twice a month is ok.

Akbars hmmmm is that the one on deansgate? If its the one im thinking of then it looks posh. A lot of Asians seemed to be obsessed with pink garlic. Ive not tried it yet. They dont serve alcohol do they? I think thats why it might be popular.

Lal qila been there once was ok. Dad was saying they put alcohol in their food im not so sure. I think hes only saying it so we dont eat out lol. I like saffrons in cheethamhill. Good food and excellant service (theyr not perverts). Nawaabs in comparison has more selection of food but the service is a bit poo and its too loud for my liking. You having to shout all the time. Need to still try kareems in middleton, thats suppose to be nice. The kebabs at kebabish are suppose to be nice but you get the runs apprently Laughing

ps ive used that search facility to locate threads but sometimes i get hundreds of searches back that i cant be bothered to scroll through all of them.

@courage why dont you get your personal statement checked by your tutor. At my college thats what we did.

God that was tiring work, its hard typing with one hand.

Lol, pizza is the exception... but only at a handful of places. Mostly i prefer the home-made ones, they're gorgeous.

We get takeout once every week (on takeout night... Fri), which is why i hate it. I rarely eat it, unless its pizza ofcourse :).

The reason why every1 goes on about Pink Garlic is because they actually hold a Jamaat there. So you can offer salat and have something to eat. The owner/manager/watever leads prayer there. They DO NOT serve alcohol, they play some decent nasheeds and the foods nice. Whats terrible about it, is the waiters are disorganised, you're drinks take forever in arriving and there are stains all over the table cloth. The tables seem to packed togeather so it can be difficult to get up, depending on where you're sat. And finally you have to get up and go all the way over to reception to pay your bill and even then they're not sure what you had. When i prefer they bring the bill to me.

Akbars is the one in Deansgate. I cant say enough good things about them. Its really nice as well as reasonably priced.

Karims have a branch in Manchester City Centre, in Spring Gardens (opposite the Armani store). Foods good and the setting is ALOT better than the Middleton branch (i should know, ive been to both). Ive found service is REALLY good (or atleast at the Manchester branch it is).

Ive been to Saffrons but only when attending weddings etc, its too out of my way to go to on a whim. Plus there doesnt seem to be anything special about them. Same for Nawaabs, everyone goes there and id rather not. Their foods alright, service was okay too. Thank god they stopped serving alcohol.

what's it like? the food, service, and air?

is it suitable for golden oldies??

Yes! It is halal! I wouldnt bother mentioning it otherwise.

Foods nice, service is excellent. ALMOST everything inside is made from marble. Its almost like being inside a palace lol. Its suitable for everyone really.

I read something a lil while ago. Which contained a statement from the organisation that gives out the 'halal' certificates (i forget their name) to restaurants in the UK and it basically said that Nando's USED to be halal. But they've not re-newed their licence. And that the chickens they use are stunned before being killed... and that this is NOT allowed for the meat to be halal.

no it isnt its just over priced rubbish the cheescake is non suitabe for veggies and the only thing good on there menu is the steak its really not all that.

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane, by those who couldn't hear the music...

mm seraphim,

the majority of halal butchers in the uk even in the entire west use stunned meat. Apparently this is a contentious issue because there are renowned scholars who accept partial stunning, as long as the animal is not completely unconscious before the slaughter. But there's not way to ensure this when there are thousands upon thousands of animals going through the stunning process mechanically?

So each muslim has to decide for themselves whether they wish to eat purely non stunned meat, which is i actual fact as close to the sunnah and away from doubt as possible, or eat meat that has gone through the stunning process, and could be dead before slaughter therefore not halal?

Because of these differences HMC and other organisations like it have come about. So nandos may not be certified by one of these groups but it could technically be halal meat, more likely to be the stunned type.

Just like legally you need the guilty mind/mens rea for most crimes, you need to know that what you're eating is haram before being held accountable. If someone tells you that this burger is halal but it's not and you eat it, that doesn't mean that you've committed a sin. YOU DIDN'T KNOW!!!

Chin up, mate! Life's too short.

Ignorance is not always bliss - drinking poison will kill even if you do not know it is poison.

With matters of halaal and haraam the question is one of due diligence - did you put in enough effort to find out? If you did, then you are covered.

If on the other hand you apply the policy of "don't look at the ingredients - that way you won't know its haraam so you're covered" then... well... lets leave it at that.

For things in greyer areas, it is greyer.

True every action is judged on the intention.

Thats true, but if you eat anything thats haram, even without knowing, your ibadah is not counted for 40 days. So its best to be really, really careful.

What makes you say that? I think it's up to Allah whether or not to accept your ibadah, mate. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Allah hasn't appointed you to that job yet.

She was not giving her opinion bro. Ive actually heard that before too. There might be some hadith or Quranic reference.

OK, fair enough, but does that refer to ALL situations or just when you know that what you're doing is haram? Does the hadith or verse specifically mention anything along the lines of "even if you don't know"?

Ive only ever heard it in reference to when you ingest something thats haraam i.e. if you ate non-halal meat.

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar: Allah's Messenger said, "If anyone drinks wine Allah will not accept prayer from him for forty days, but if he repents Allah will forgive him. If he repeats the offence Allah will not accept prayer from him for forty days, but if he repents Allah will forgive him. If he again repeats the offence Allah will not accept prayer from him for forty days, but if he repents Allah will forgive him. If he repeats it a fourth time Allah will not accept prayer from him for forty days, and if he repents Allah will not forgive him, but will give him to drink of the river of the fluid flowing from the inhabitants of Hell." (Tirmidhi)

first ive heard about non halal meat.

I once heard it from some scholar, he did'nt mention specifically meat, but he said some story about this king who gathered all the pious people (like really close to Allah) from his kingdom, then fed them all haraam food. When they finished, he told them, because he knew they would not be able to make dua to stop him from carrying out the evil that he wanted to carry out.

Well,it was something like that,i Heard it ages ago! :?
