Fears for 2,000 'missing' pupils
More than 2,000 children are missing from school registers, a committee of MPs investigating the issue of forced marriages has been told.
The Home Affairs Select Committee demanded the information after hearing that 33 youngsters were missing from education in Bradford.
Members suspected some of the children may have been taken abroad and forced to marry against their will.
The new figures cover a further 14 local authorities in England and show a total of 2,089 children are not in school.
Different ways
Councils stress the number reflects pupils who are missing from suitable education and does not necessarily mean any are at risk. ...
Was watching Sky news earlier on today. They were pretty adamant on using the headline figure as the count of (young) people that have been forced into marriage every year (and that it was actually much higher than that since the figures were not nationwide). The BBC were always adding the disclaimer that this was student who were not turning up/being educated, some of which may be being forced into marriage.

I cant understand how some parents can do such a thing to their own child.

I know. I can only think that they are doing it coz they reckon its for the good of their child..... but it isn't.
The media, government, tried to blow us, but they can't out the flame, or doubt the name.
They do it out of fear.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane, by those who couldn't hear the music...
Fear of what?
Maybe they are afraid that if they dont act... their son/daughter may marry someone who they dont approve of..... or even worse someone of a different religion.
Is this what Funzo was gettin at?

I think such people are the lowest of the low. Comeon thats you're son or daughter. Someone you're "supposed" to care about.
You know what? People like this are sooo low; id put a hit out on them. Ive got literally golden bullets with their names on them.
Comeon whose with me?

How many 13 year olds do you know that do that?
It doesnt matter how good the reasons are, you just cant justify by firstly forcing someone to marry against their will and secondly marrying a 13 yr old CHILD to a man is almost 33! Its just madness.
I dont think violence is the solution Seraphim these ppl need educating.

Spoil sport.
I went through the trouble of getting golden bullets with peoples names carved on them... what a waste. Oh well maybe i can melt them down or something.

I can understand that, Serpah. But people need liberating and educating. But if someone tried to violently force your brother, sister or family member or violently abused them....... Then you'd roll up your sleeves wouldn't you?
Chin up, mate! Life's too short.
I would. I'd bash'em up and pulvarise them!
Your father I am!
WTH, I was talkin general. As if I agree that the 13 yr old should be forced to marry anyone. Jeez - sorry I didnt relate my answer to the story!
The media, government, tried to blow us, but they can't out the flame, or doubt the name.
People should NOT be forced INTO anything... let alone oh i dunno... possibly the BIGGEST decision of their lives like getting married. And yes i hope these people die, i hope they burn in hell.
Im for justice, no matter who its for or against. Im for truth, no matter who tells it. And yes im for violence if non-violence means we continue postponing a solution to the forced marriage problem just so ignorant folk can sleep at night.
orite calm down, i werent having a go, it was just a question. Maybe i misunderstood/forgot what you wrote while i was typing, my bad.

I agree with seraph there, apart from condemning them to hell. I rather leave the punishment side to Allah (swt).
However it is horrible for someone to have a forced marriage regardless of what age they are, its horrid. If a child says no or is really upset by this parents should see this as a no go area and leave it. I dont think parents who force their children into marriage are thinkin about their children, they need to brush up on their parenting skills! (Thank you Allah (swt) for giving me understanding parents and bestow those who dont have such parents)
Imagine spending the rest of your life with someone who you cannot even stand looking at, god!!
Ok. You are forgiven

You got some really sick twisted ppl in this world. Look at her, she is just a baby.

She's really brave, good on her. It takes alot of courage (a lot of me) to do that. Thumbs up to Judge Muhammad al-Qathi for taking her seriously!
