Admin,

On the main forum page (that lists the different forums) is there a way of saying how many new posts there are on each forum? At the moment it just lists how many new threads there are, so you have to click on the forum to find out how many new replies.

There needs to be a link at the top to 'Blogs'.

I know you can access them by pressing 'More' on the 'Recent Blogs' section of the homepage.

But they are inaccessible from other parts of the site.

Plus, why isn't 'blogs' in the Firefox built-in dictionary? Come to think of it, how come 'Firefox' isn't in the dictionary either? Answer me THAT!!

Do we have to go into My Accounts to see if we've received any PM's each time?

cant delete my old pms?

To be beautiful is to expect nothing in return.

Is there not a block on the left called "Private Messages"? I only got rid of the link showing how many messages after putting that on... or so I thought...

Also, when you get a new message, you will/should get a notification on the next page you visit.

Changes can still be made though... what do people prefer?

The check box on the list shows an error atm, but if you go into a message and click delete, it will.

What happened to the post count meter? (the one under our username)

I thought You out of all people would notice.

Erm i dont know whether im doing something wrong or theres a problem with the link formula, but you know when you add your site into the box that comes up when you click the link tab well after the first url it comes up with an =.

This is why:

(url=yourlink.com)name of link(/url)

except with [] instead of ()

Hope that makes sense.

I eventually realised its the old format. The only thing new is the fancy box where you can type the website. Replaced the = with an ]and it worked.

Also the save button can come across as a bit confusing, esp for the newbees. When i first saw it i thought it just saves the message to the inbox or something. Shouldnt it be called submit. Just a thought.

Yeah, Naz is right. It should read: Submit... not Save.

Ive just noticed that on the main page it now shows the number of pages to each thread... HOWEVER it dont show all the pages. For example, on this thread it only shows there are 2 pages when there are in fact 4.

Dont know whats going on there.

But overall its getting better and better.

Simple html tip:

If you want to post links that open in a new window, use the code:

No idea why that is not working properly. it works absolutely fine on my test set up. :/

Advice to Admin:

1. Don't let anonymous guests vote.
2. Remove this poll, it isn't helpful and contains the rather ugly word "tard".

The topic pager should now be working.

@ Joie - Stopping anonymous votes is a good idea. Currently people can dupe the
system and vote multiple times as someone mentioned. But then again the polls are not exactly serious...

As for option 4 - it may be ugly, but it lets people vent their anger at me. Blum 3

As soon as I (or someone else) can think of another good poll, I will replace this one (actually it automatically will - the current setting is to show the latest poll there... not a specially selected one).

Fascinating thread. This is all great feedback, folks. Ironically, I don't have any sites with active forums. LOL! So seeing how things are going on an active one is really cool.

Are you running D6 here? I kept wondering why it was so hard to toss on quote and smilies. D6 forums aren't really ready for prime time, I think, with so many missing contribs. Hopefully they'll get ported soon.

Michelle

Yes, it is Drupal 6.

I have got an almost there patch for smileys, but there was one hook_theme function which I dis not know how to complete. Same for the quote link - done most of it, but stuck on one line (that is a small module though)

There are teething problems, but most things work and work well.

On the threads that have more than 4 pages, between '3' and 'last' it says '&hellip' for no apparant reason and looks really weird.

&hellip ; (without the space) is the symbol for "..." Do you still get that? or is it fixed now?

fixed now.

Also, could you change the default font for everything.

This one looks WAY too corporate, microsoft, evil etc.

How about ComicSans?

It's much more pleasant on the eye.

You gotta be joking.

If you want comic sans, get a custom style sheet added through Firefox.

comic sans is too babyish

I like it the way it is....Arial (i think).

I agree, Comic Sans is a terrible font. What about Bauhaus, or my favourite, Webdings?

Depends on what fonts you have. For most people it is Verdana.

I want!!

I tried searching how to do this, but I could't find anything in, all of, 1 1/2 mins.

Can you tell me how I do this please?

(YAY! Everything's going to look childish now!)

Go to Tools
> Options
> Content
> Default font
> Comic Sans

(you may need to scroll down to the second set of alphabetical listings)

Then
>Advanced
Choose Sans serif and make the appropriate adjustments to the font in each box.
Uncheck "let pages choose their own font"

Ta-da, everything looks ridiculous!

Let me know if you want to make the change exclusively to this website and I'll show you. It's more complicated but certainly possible without add-ons.

Biggrin That was about the last layout that we just got rid of.
