Surely you know this is just a bunch of muck-spreading, and all a Muslim (or a Jew) needs to know is it's either acceptable as a common practise or unacceptable as a non-Islamic practise. Forgive me saying I wouldn't think this is a good event. I've never been to a speech in the Jewish community bound to have such a negative focus like this, seems wrong at a glance to want to pick apart non-Islamic practises. Like, it's a given that I don't celebrate Christmas, but a bunch of muck-raking every year when really for Christians it's just a time of goodwill and nothing to do with me... why? Honestly, why?

i kinda agree with that

the isoc at my uni is having its 3rd annual He Loves She loves me not speak - to be honest, theres some funny characters in the isoc so seems a lil hypocritical......but besides that, love aint a bad thing providing its halal, so IMO nuffin wrong with celebrating with your loved ones on a special day, despite where the tradition began from - because today its just a commercial excercise as wel as a special day to show your affection for someone - nobody has incorporated it as part of the deen

not that i do anything for the day, but there are married people on here even that would do sumat special for their hubbys/wives im sure

Always funny characters in isocs.

Usually when there were talks on marriage at university, the people who don't usually go to the prayer room would come, so maybe it could benefit some people inshaAllah
