I am sure that everyone has heard of the term "Happy slapping". It is the term used to describe the phenomenon of an individual or group (of teenagers generally), slapping or striking a stranger while an accomplice films the assault using a camera phone or smart phone
. One would say that it has nothing to do with Muslims but it seems we are doing something similar in our everyday lives. I have constantly noticed that some Muslim brothers/sisters try to shame other Muslim brothers/sisters whenever they find an opportunity. You will see them in Islamic rallies, high streets, shopping malls, supermarkets either lecturing some other Muslim brother/sister loudly on how to do things properly or telling someone how he is going to end up in hell because his beard is not of particular length or berating one of the sisters because some of her hair is uncovered and of course she will not be able to enter paradise.
These "Muslim Happy Slappers" take pride in telling off people and shaking their head in disgust at other Muslims who do not meet their criteria.
Sometime back I went to a small Muslim rally. I noticed that some of the ‘niqabi’ sisters were not talking to other sisters who were either wearing hijab or were not wearing one, but were modestly dressed. One of the non-hijabi sisters decided to break the ice by saying ‘Salaam’ to the ‘niqabi’ group, but all she got in return were angry noises, frowns and hostile glances.
Being a white Irish person, he did not have enough facial hair and the only thing he could grow on his face was this small "goatee". But this effort was ridiculed. Next on the list, people disapproved of his crew-cut, his hair should reach his ears they said. Then came the objection to the tie he used to wear. Some Muslims kept quoting a ‘fatwa’ saying that it is a sign for the cross so he shouldn’t wear it otherwise all his prayers, etc were futile. Then came the demand to stop wearing Muslim skullcap and start wearing the turban. Then it was the length of the trousers that were not right.

Happy Slapping... is that what they call it.
I saw once on TV (i was flicking thru the channels) how this presentor goes around kicking people in the groan area whilst being filmed and then runs away. ... I didnt know if i should laugh or watch my step from now on.
On the issue of ignoring certain people and exclusing them from your circle. I think i've only done it on a few occations, but only to make a point to the sister. I met her at my work-place and she had her head covered propperly and i thought mashallah thats very good, anyway we got on well enough. Then for no reason whatso ever she came in once without it on. In disgust i ignored her for the whole day. She came in the day after with it back on, only then would i stop giving her the silent treatment.
Maybe i was wrong in doing so... i dunno. But i stand by what i did, and i'd prob do it again.
Back in BLACK
slaam
so does that mean when i got battered by a group of white yobs, could that have been 'Happy slapping'? :?
well....i can tell you i wasn't very happy!
wasalaam
I've heard of happy slapping... Its disgusting in my opinion. A bunch of yobs approach random people and just give them a big slap on their face; the victims don't react beacause most of the time they are caught off guard and are too shocked.
Ed, your attack could've been a happy slap but generally they don't really beat their victims up; they just give them one slap and walk off. Did you manage to catch anyone filming you getting attacked? I think yours was most likely a racial attack or just some drunken attack.
I know this one boy who is pakistani who was aproached by a happy slapper. He started beating the boy up who happy slapped him, which was good as he got what he deserved.
At first i thought it wasn't such a big deal-i even laughed at the videos but then a friend of mine showed me a video of a 90 year old woman getting a happy slap-that just made me so angry... that is just plain wrong.
I also heard that there was what the press is calling a "happy slap rape" in which a 11 year old girl got raped by a 14 yeard old i think, whilst his friend was filming it. Just imagine how the poor girl si feeling. She must be traumatised. She'll probably live in fear for the rest of her teenage years. My prayers are with her... i have a 10 year old sister whom i am extremely cloase with. I can not fathom how she'd be feeling in a similar position. I wold not rest until i know that the person got utmost revenge.
Something needs to be done about this and soon; society is getting really messed up and all of our morals are going out the window. I fear or the well-being of all our future children,
May Allah protect our ummah from the evils of society in which we live.
I know what 'happy slapping' is and I've been happy slapped but quite lightly.
I was really embarassed and angry.
I wasn't very happy :x
"Purity is half of faith.......Prayer is the light...patience is illumination; and the Quran is an argument for or against you. Everyone starts his day and is a vendor of his soul, either freeing it or bringing about its ruin." Muslim

It's sad how many people get their kicks out of watching other people being hurt or ridiculed.
I’ve seen many of these “Happy Slapping” videos on my cousin’s phones, I can’t see the funny side of it at all.
One needs to have a warped/twisted sense of humour to find such things funny.
I heard bout this "happy slappin" term few weeks back and i tell ya i wasnt very impressd what a daft thing to invent, talk bout lack of imagination its almost as bad as muji's sad imagination! It hasnt happend to me (thank god) but i tell you if it did the person will get a slap in the face bak but twice as hard!!
There’s a new trend in yob culture-it’s called doing the “chicken”. Here, someone stands on a railway and waits for a train to approach and then jumps back at the very last minute again whilst someone is filming it using their camera phone which is then passed on. Another idiotic act invented by the youth of today but at least they’re not harming anyone apart from themselves.
I don't think this is something new. It has happened in the past.
Just now it is being sensationalised. Kids will start to do it more as those thta had not thought of it now have, and it will be the 'in' thing to do.
Self fulfilling prophecies. How many kids do you think were involved with 'happy slapping' before they it was brought to their attention?
"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.
Isn't that a sociological theory?
But I agree with you, my six year old sister never knew what it was and wanted us to slap her a few days ago and take a photo of her with our phone...
 that is the most idiotic "trend" i ever heard of - wot kind of dim-wits wud participate in it?! if the train hits them, they would have endangered the driver and possibly passengers too besides themselves... that is ridiculously insane. :?
I NEVER WORE IT BECAUSE OF THE TALIBAN, MOTHER. I LIKE THE MODESTY AND PROTECTION IT AFFORDS ME FROM THE EYES OF MEN. Dust, X-Men
Mr Admin agreeing with a soiological theory-
but its tru that my lil sis asked us to slap her-
I gladly obliged
