It’s the lamest programme on TV; you pick a bunch of girls and boys with outrageous personalities, put them together for a significant amount of time and then watch what happens.
It intresting to note what last years Arab Big Brother show was all about.

Its trash TV no doubt, but not worth getting worked up over.
It’s not a major threat to civilisation, in any case it’s on late at night, so just don’t watch it!
Leave it to the dummies to numb their brains with this rubbish.
I prefer George Orwell anyway.
wasssup latifah ..long time no see..pray for my bro soul..

I agree
btw whose Mr Orwell?
 I cant believe you dont know who George Orwell is.
Helloo... he wrote books e.g. Nineteen Eighty Four, Animal Farm etc...
I'm surprised you dont know they usually ram that down your throught at GCSE.

George Orwell wrote Nineteen Eighty-Four about sinister governments who control the population through propaganda, brainwashing and torture.
They were led by the ever-present, all-seeing Big Brother who controlled the people through the TV.
It also featured the Thought police who punished anyone suspected of impure thoughts.
It’s a great book.
I shall certainly pray for your dearly departed bro…
I thought he was funny.
Shame his material was limited to disco/girls/alcohol scenario.
He had potential, but never developed it.
A sad loss.
i thought ur doing English at A-level? u must have come across him.... wen ur looking at any dystopic novel? :?

I think big bro is the most borin tele programme around and anyone who watches it must be as equally sad as that programme (no offence to anyone)..i cnt beleive people can sit an watch others do wat!!? it makes no sense but i guess one who watches it must be very very sad!
I agree
which is why I bet the Loner watches it
For me the term means that we are all being watching by someone who has alot of power over us, regarding what we do, and who stays and goes. So in a way i suppose it reminds me of how God is watching us go about our lives.
But it can also be interpreted as the 'fear'(for the lack of a better word) of the government watching you and every move you make.

I agree with you too...its nt just borin, we shuldnt b watchin it n also its rude.
As muslims in the time you are watching big bro u can do all sorts such as concentrate on ur Islamic knowledge, read darood shareef, watch islamic lectures, listen to naaths..im nt sayin that you can't chill out...if u wnna chill out chill in a manner which wuld avoid u commiting a sin n also in manner that wuld count in the hereafter.

Yes, I agree.
Muslims shouldn't be watching it anyway.

Lil Sis,
You doing English A-level? I jus finished my A-levels, I've done English aswell but literature not language. I didn't really want to do English but its a really good A-level to have-It really works in your favour when finding a high paying job.
Btw, what book did you study for english? In my AS year I studied persuasion...Bored the **** out of me! I have to say english literature is a really feminine subject. There was only about 3 boys in my class including me. We just sat dumbfounded when our teacher went on and on about the social context as it was only related to women, I got a D in my first year so maybe i should've contributed more to discussions relating to exactly why women wrote books, why they weren't married, why their status was so low...
I've come across 1984, but none of my english teachers mentioned it nor did it come up in my literature course. I just found out about whilst watching a TV programme. They highlighted the fact that the idea of Big Brother originated from a book.
Soz for going off the topic though.:

Btw is there a thread on books? I don't want to start a new thread if there's already an existing one. I've read quite a lot of books.
There isn't one.
i have been watching big brother and enjoying it as well as cringing. i am a naughty girl as well as brain dead. the other night tho i turned it off part way cos i felt ashamed of the stuff going on. but i'll be watching it again. i cant help being drawn to evil. my husband says its evil etc but when hes not around i watch it. right now i dont want to be cured of this malady i'm enjoying it too much.
Is this a big joke or what?
You sound very much like Mujahida now.

that was harsh islamic bro. no need for personal insults here, everyone's just expressing their own opinions. it is possible to disagree politely u know.
