Fifty, sixty snakes

In 1986, an oppressed and extremely hurt mother gave the following story in an article in the `Jang` newspaper. She narrated that, `Recently my eldest daughter died. When her grave was dug, fifty to sixty snakes appeared. When another grave was dug, again the same amount of snakes all appeared and coiled up one on top of another. When a third grave was dug, even more snakes appeared. People around were extremely terrified and it was also late. People were helpless and after much discussion they decided to bury my beloved daughter in the same grave where the snakes were waiting and from afar, people threw soil into the grave. After completing the burial, everyone returned. My daughter`s father`s condition was very bad when he returned from the graveyard and because of the extreme fear he had felt, he kept his head low`. This same hurt mother goes on to say, `Even though my daughter used to fast and perform her salaah, she was also very fashionable. Even though I used to advise her as kindly as possible, instead of listening to me, she used to turn against me. She used to also disgrace me. It is so unfortunate that my modern daughter never understood my advice.`

Some Hadiths

The Holy Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam has stated, `Without a doubt, that female who uses perfume and passes a crowd, she is like this meaning she is like an adulterer.` (Sunan Tirmizi, V4, P361, Hadith 2795, Dar-ul-Fikr Beirut)

Hakeem-ul-Ummat Mufti Ahmed Yaar Khan in explaining this Hadith Shareef states, `The reason for this is that by using this perfume, she is enticing people towards her. Islam has made adultery Haraam therefore it has also made the causes of adultery Haraam.` (miratul manaajih, V2, P171, Zia-ul-Qur`an Publication Lahore)

Allama ibn Hajr Makki narrates that, `On the night of Mairaaj, The Holy Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam the frightening punishment inflicted upon females. One of the punishments was that a female was hung by her hair and her brain was boiling. It was said to the Holy Prophet that she never used to hide her hair from other males.` (az`zawaajiru aniqtiraafil kabaa`ir, V2, P97-98, Dar-ul-Ma`rifa Beirut

Frightening pit

There is a possibility that Satan might try to mislead a person and make him think that perhaps since this is a newspaper article, who knows whether it is true or not. Even if one accepts that this might be untrue, still there is no proof which proves the excellence of modern fashion and uncovering. Look at the punishment which has been explained in the Hadith Shareef about un-Islamic and unacceptable fashion. The Holy Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam has stated, `I saw certain people whose skin was been cut with scissors of fire. On inquiry, I was told that these were those people who used to beautify themselves with unlawful things. I also saw a deep pit from where screams and shrieks were heard. When I asked, I was told that these were those females who had beautified themselves with unlawful items.` (tareekh-e-Baghdad, V1, P15, Dar-ul-Kutubul Ilmiyah Beirut)

Please bear in mind that modern nail polish is something which hardens on the fingernails. It is because of this that neither the wudhu nor the ghusl is completed. The salaah is also incomplete.

Beware!

Do not ever fall into the trap of the Satan like some people who say that the world has become a modern place. Privacy and the four walls of one`s house is a most liked thing among Muslims and something which has always been propagated. These `modern` people even claim that both male and females should sit next to one another and work. There is no doubt that for a true Muslim, proof from the Holy Qur`an is sufficient. Therefore, read the following verse from Sura Ahzaab, verse 33:

Translation Kanzul Iman: And stay in your houses and be not unveiled like
that of the unveiling of the former days of ignorance

This should be thought provoking to those females who roam around in shopping centres and playgrounds without proper covering, those females who attend co-education centres, schools and colleges and universities, those who listen to their lecturers without even covering their faces and to those females who work in places such as offices, factories, hospitals etc. and mix and work freely with other males.

hmm...

I've heard recently about people seeing others being punished in their graves, don't know if its just a rumour though.

Salaam

Does the same go for us guys?

Allahuakbar — Wed, 21 Nov 2007 - 12:02

Maybe it is, may be not. I'm not sure.

I think maybe the same principle applies as to why women must cover up (their hair etc) and men don't cover their hair but their hijab is that they must lower their gaze...... I think this is coz men are maybe more attracted to women and are more likely to act than vice versa. Using that same idea ......

........ It can be applied to the perfume thing, if a guy is near a girl who is wearing perfume, there is a chance that he might lose it and be temped, maybe its not the same for if a guy wears it? I don't know. Any ladies like to comment?????

I'm just saying this because apparently the Hadith only specifically mentions women?

Yeah, but Im not convinced by it.... yet 🙂

Oldham_Lad25 — Wed, 21 Nov 2007 - 17:56

I suppose its the same principal for us as well. If were meant to keep our gaze lowered.. it must be the same principal here..

best put that bottle of aftershave in the bin!

Ya'qub — Wed, 21 Nov 2007 - 18:11

but its recommended to put perfume on when you go for Salat. I'm not sure if this is the same for sisters but I assume it is.

Funzo — Wed, 21 Nov 2007 - 18:24

It is recomended but nowadays most of the perfumes aftershaves and deodarants etc contain alcohol, so when praying salah your not allowed these alcohol containing perfumes, aftershaves etc.

Allahuakbar — Wed, 21 Nov 2007 - 18:28

Yeah but that alcohol in perfumes is DENATURED alcohol (alcohol denat.), so there is a difference in opinion there. I guess if you are against it, you can't test 'The Lynx Effect' either as deodrants got alcohol denat in too.

When you go to the mosque you wear attar (or however u spell it), that smells really nice, smells natural, is it?

Anyway, attar must be allowed as ppl use it in mosque, but then again its guy only environment where a guy prays in mosque and same for women. Some people wear attar generally too.

Funzo — Wed, 21 Nov 2007 - 18:32

Yes attar is allowed because ive seen molvi who wear it (not saying these molvi's justify the use of attar) but that shows that it is highly likely you can wear it. Alcohol is alcohol unless its used for medicinal purpose, otherwise its not neccesarry because there is non-alcohol sprays out there.

is she meant to fall for the guy b4 or after shes been chocked to death because her lungs have been polluted by the "lynx effect"

Funzo — Wed, 21 Nov 2007 - 18:52

maybe the lack of oxygen is the "lynx effect" ? Causing her to hallucinate and infactuated with the guy.

Snoopz — Wed, 21 Nov 2007 - 18:58

when shes struggling to breathe the last thing on her mind is gna be the guy whos trying to kill her.

Funzo — Wed, 21 Nov 2007 - 19:01

therefore there is the possibility that she might fall for him.

lol very true.
if a guy is near a girl who is wearing perfume, there is a chance that he might lose it and be temped...
its debatable. Everyone has a preference to scents, just cos you like a certain scent doesn’t mean other ppl will.
In conclusion if you dont like a gals/guys perfume/aftershave you aint gonna fall head over heels for them
Moral of the conclusion: wear pongy perfume/aftershave lol. That your guaranteed that you wont be sinning.

Funzo — Wed, 21 Nov 2007 - 21:06

What ever happened to just saying "you smell nice" and walking away?

so you walk into the mosque smelling really bad?
What ever happened to just saying "you smell nice" and walking away?
Come on, would you say that to a girl? She would probably think you were flirting with her.

And I know you wouldn't say it to a guy coz that would just be downright weird, unless he was ur bro or sumthin.

Funzo — Wed, 21 Nov 2007 - 21:27

Lol i wouldnt say you smell nice and start raising my eyebrows frantickly there is such a thing as being polite and subtle.

i have no idea 8)

Noor — Wed, 21 Nov 2007 - 21:29

And there is something called 'lowering the gaze'. There is no need for you to tell a girl she smells nice, if anything she'd think you're a weirdo.
