The poll from the manly section just showed up on the front page and then disappeared entirely - guessing that might be how you solved the problem, which is fair enough. Are you working on that so we can have polls in that section?

Yes I am working ion it.(well, not right now as I am about to go to bed, but I am aware of the problem since yesterday and looking for a solution.)

I will tell people what the problem is (to help them avoid it):

Currently the mechanism that keeps topics hidden only works on topic. The system sees polls as polls, not topics.

In short, if you are a member of a secret society and want to keep the discussion a secret, make sure it is not a poll. If it is a poll, not replying to it will keep it off the radar for most people. If however it does come on the radar, I will unpublish that poll up til I have a eral solution.

Currently I have unpublished two polls - one in the guys section, the otehr in the sisters section.

Polls (and any future content types I allow) should now also be hidden

You don't. I decided to take this feature away now that usernames are used as part of links in some places (like blogs).

I can still change your username, but it is at my discretion.
