Thanks to Noor for asking me to find this. I actually like it. Shocking.
(and before you ask - I have no idea what most of it means.)

Is he saying 'My Dad' but in a weird accent?

I could give you that if:
1. There was any English at all in it.
2. The correct word was not written on this page at least 5 times, including the title.
"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.
Did you translate that yourself?
"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.
Rasul'Allah was the best of mankind, he told us of the previous Prophets (a.s), and told us their presence is alive. We know that the Mahdi (a.s) is going to arrive shortly before Hazrat Isa (a.s), this at a time when the Holy land will be under siege. There's currently a massacre going on in Gaza where the occupiers want 'peace', they've proven they're are perennial liars. They are currently occupying the area and therefore Masjid Al Aqsa and 'The Dome of The Rock' - the very rock from that incredible night. The Mahdi will arrive but when ?, considering we are being dictated by the media, would it be blasphemous to suggest he'll make inroads through a similiar medium ?. Maybe i'm losing the plot, who knows.
Is it only me or is listening to this on repeat extremely depressing?

If there was no need for intermediaries at all, we would not have been sent prophets/messengers of Allah (swt). IMO
EDIT - I must however stress that believing that anyone or thing can help you in any way without the will of Allah (swt) is shirk.

the sahaba would call upon the prophet saw after his saw departure. all comes down to aqeedah.
What has changed? What do you mean?

What about the rest of teh poem, when the guy swears by the Qur'an and the keys of heaven etc.
i know in the Qur'an, Allah (swt) himself swears by many things, like the moon, the passage of time etc.
But as Muslims, can't we ONLY swear an oath on Allah (swt)?
Don't just do something! Stand there.
No idea. Best ask one of your flatmates to get it clarified.

I love this.
Reading the translation almost brings a tear to my eye.
Almost.
Still sounds like he's saying Ma Dad...

Just a piece of advice - when a joke bombs, walk away. Just walk away. act nonchalant, maybe whistle a little too as if there is no care in the world.

I've been listening to this alot whilst reading about Gaza. If I'm pushed over the edge and start crying it's going to be whilst listening to this. Esp given what the words mean.
But the more I listen to it the more it gets me down. I've been close to crying that's why I said "almost".
Did I just say too much?
Nope. (my first reading of your post was an extremely sarcastic one though.)
I was listening it on repeat the other day while I was getting some work done (don't laugh!) and for some reason I felt like crap at the end.
It may be a sorrowful tune or something (but it sounds laid back, calming...:s). or the words could hint at helplessness.
But its good IMO. Listening to it atm.

For some reason it sounds "wrong"... also not sure why pakistani stuff is a fan of that echoey voice over near at the start... I guess that is their version of voice over where the western style is different.

Just going back a bit...
It is not about replacing, not at all. However if there was no need for intermediaries, there would have been no prophethood - people would have been guided directly by Allah (swt) without need of such creation. However that is not the case.
Actually no. The begger wants you to provide the money, but the beggar does not expect you to do so without the will of Allah (swt).
It is similar in a way to traveling. If you need to get somewhere, you don't just pray "O Allah, I need to go to X, please transport me there". Or you do, but at the same time, you also walk, drive, catch public transport or other thing to get the job done.
Does that make the bus divine? No.

An avenue to acquire some wealth? I really doubt the person would be attaching any godlike properties to you simply because you might throw some loose coin at him/her.

Why is that an issue? Either you give or not give. Who cares what they say?
