The Revival Matrimonial Service

marraige

As Editor of The Revival Magazine over the last decade or so one issue that pops up more than any other is that of marriage. When a young Muslim in his mid 20's or early 30's wants to get married here he/she comes across many problems and obstcales. They don't wanna get married 'back home' or to their cousin and don't want to enter the dating scene- so what do they do?

Muslim matrimonial events or better known as 'halal' speed dating or even finding 'the one' online doesn't work for most and creates more problems.

So to avoid being forced in to marriage and marrying someone against their wishes what options do they have?

Sheesha Bars - The Muslim Club OR Another Hub?

VOICE OF THE MUSLIM YOUTH:

Areeba Khalid, 25, Derby

I can’t believe some of the fuss that is being made about shisha bars. I think people would have a stronger point if they said shisha is Haram because it is bad for you by backing it up with evidence. Saying it is haram because of the environment (intermixing/music) – in my opinion sounds a little bit ridiculous. It’s like saying going to school/town/any other café is Haram because of what COULD happen. We live in a country and a society where intermixing/ background music is pretty normal. We’ve all been to schools and the majority of us work in such environments.

Depressed - A Personal Account

Those who know me often describe me as being loud, opinionated and feisty. “Nothing seems to get you down” they say. “I admire the fact that you're such a strong woman who doesn't give a damn about what people think.”

If only they knew.

Sometimes I feel like such a fraud because that is no longer who I am – at least that is no longer how I feel at the moment. I have been depressed for a good few months now. Part of the reason is due to the fact that I have not been working for six months and I have been finding it difficult to get another job. On top of that my savings are running out so I am struggling financially.

The Revival magazine- what do you REALLY think?

The Legacy of Islam

The Legacy of Islam...

Legacy: leg-a-cy; Anything handed down from the past, as from an ancestor or predecessor ie. the legacy of...

In the name of Allah the most beneficent, the most merciful.

Assalamu alaikum Biggrin

The legacy of Islam starts from Allah (SWT), the first of mankind though to carry on this legacy was Aadam (as). Aadam (as) was the first messenger of Allah (SWT) and his message was Islam. His duty was to spread Islam as it was passed down to him through revelation from Allah (SWT).

This way the message of Islam was spread to the rest of mankind, anyone who accepted the message in turn would also take on the responsibility of spreading Islam and is known as a muslim (one who submits his will to Allah).

Home schooling, a good idea?

So my 13 year old sister asked me to speak to my parents about home schooling her. She tells me she just doesn't like the environment at school. It's not that everybody's a bad influence at school but the majority are bound by almost no rules.

My older sister thinks it's a bad idea for her to be away from other girls her age and that it may have a bad affect on her in the future and i think my dad pretty much agrees.

I haven't yet discussed this with my dad as i don't know what's best atm. I do need to talk to him soon or my lil sis is gonna kill me.

IMO home schooling has it's positives and negatives...unlike some i don't agree that it cuts her off from society completely.

BBC newsnight Anti-police feeling 'major factor in England riot

Anti-police sentiment was a significant factor in the summer riots in cities across England, according to a major study on the causes of the unrest.

The study by London School of Economics and the Guardian newspaper involved interviews with 270 rioters.

Of those interviewed, 85% cited anger at policing practices as a key factor in why the violence happened.

Four consecutive nights of looting and arson in August left five people dead and more than 4,000 suspects arrested.
