Water meters Vs water companies actually fixing things up.

All those people experiencing wet conditions right now may not be aware that many parts of the UK are currently facing drought.

I was just reading and to me its pretty shocking. The government is in action, it wants to install more smart water meters which will force people to be more efficient in their water use because using more will cost more.

This may save up to 2% of the overall water usage.

This is billed as a big efficiency.

On the other hand leaking pipes in the UK, pipes owned by the water companies are thought to have so many leaks that 25% of the water is lost before it gets to a place where it cna be used.

And these companies have to targets to reduce leakage, and when they do have some, it is paltry. It is chaeper for them to not fix the leaks and charge their customers more and due to the nature of their service, they are not something that can be penalised.

If the government really had its priorities right it would target the 25% lost through leakage instead of trying to raise the bills for those using the water, which is smaller change and hits the poorest harder.

But then I would guess that the offshore water companies owned by rich friends of the government wouldnt be too pleased having to spend more of their profits in fixing leaking pipes...

Yeah my teacher told us about this the other week. It's pretty shocking how they're just screwing us over like that! We have SO much rain all the time, how the hell could we be in a drought, especially now after having the wettest April since records began. Untill pressures put on them to fix the pipes, nothings gna happen.

It's just like petrol prices. As soon as the wholesale price increases, the rise is passed to the end user (me) immediately. However, when the wholesale price goes down, we don't hear anything of the price that I pay at the pump coming down. What's that all about? Bloody 'capitalist kuffars'

They really need to change the definition of drought! For Gods sake, please look at Africa, thats where the dictionary resides!

I know right, I can still see water

Africa has a lot of water and other resources too. A lot of greenery exists there, along with a lot of mineral wealth waiting to be used.

They are just not effectively exploited/managed.

A tiny bit like not fixing leaking pipes?

But seriously, fair enough you think its not managed properly, but atleast we get rain! They hardly get a few droplets because of their climate! (It can evaporate quickly too?) And as TPOS said she can still see water, and so can i.. They have to wait and wait, for the skies to pour down some blessings!
