right
i need to learn urdu within a month
i mean, i know urdu and can speak it fine, and understand it fine
but i need to know it to qualification level, that means formally, and i gotta learn my numbers past 21! which is pretty bad considering i do money transfer lol
got an exam for it coming in about a months time, and whilst my urdu is good, i dont think i would pass an exam....or i might, i dont know.
but ive ordered some urdu kitaabs from pakistan, im gona start reading the dictionary, and basically surround maself in urdu for the next few weeks inshallah.
i need tips, websites which can help (esp with numbers!), and any recommended text books.
i know some of you are doing classes, how effective is that? i can learn at home by myself and my parents, and my lil bro who did A-level urdu, oh and my brother in law, but you recommend classes?
Ah urdu, why you need to learn it so urguntly Sirus?
Best thing is books, Urdu lectures and urdu speeches, sit there with a dictionary, every time u hear a word u dunno, look it up, n also u can understand quicker like that.
Oh and best way to learn to speak is practise, I can understand urdu fully, and if I hear someone speak it make a grammatical mistake I can notice it, but when I speak myself, Im terrible, cuz I have no practise, Speakin Farsi at home n all

Im taking classes, but its from scratch the basics & you said yourself you already know how to speak urdu
Plus class is full or girls
Im learning Arabic & Urdu, the classes are only effective if your teacher can teach. In one urdu lesson I learnt more than I have in a semesters worth of Arabic classes.
My Arabic teacher, mashallah her Arabic is tops but she just doesn’t know how to teach :S
To be beautiful is to expect nothing in return.
it was a sarcastic joke.....you know, language tests to get into the uk...
arabic is harder to teach and learn i think, you gotta committ a lot of time
ive got a dictionary now....the numbers are so confusing
