Just a question separated from another topic.
Is divorce a sin?
I thought it wa a disliked but halaal action... meaning not a sin.
yes it has its taboos and social phobias etc, but that is not the same as a sin, so where the idea that it is a sin come from?
I also thought there were no prerequisites for divorce - that there was no requirements. People were allowed to divorce and as long as it was done in the right ways, there was no sin.
i think it can be sin if done for trivial reasons. These days a lot of ppl get divorced beacause they don't want to work hard at fixing a problem. They think coz of movies or what ever reason that marriage is a walk in park, romance 24/7 etc etc. So when things go wrong they don't know how to deal with it and pick the divorce card as it is the easier option.
But for anyone married you will know as with any lasting friendship it's all about compromise, and that means lots hard work.
If it is done for very good reason when all else fails then i don't think it's seen as a bad act, in fact that's why Allah allowed it.
“O my people! Truly, this life of the world is nothing but a (quick passing) enjoyment, and verily, the hereafter that is the home that will remain forever.” [Ghafir : 39]
i know it's obvious, but i wanna be the first to say it
"Among lawful things
divorce is most hated by Allah."

Yes, but to me that implied lawful as in there is no sin. Or atleast that was how I had read it.
I had considered "divorce is not allowed" and "til death do us part" to be christian concepts.

One of our rights, as a Muslim, is divorce.
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 63: DIVORCE
How can it be a sin when there are rules in the Qur'an on how to divorce
AMONG the LAWFUL acts, divorce is the most disliked
meaning its permitted
but only as a last resort
we're not like Christians, who cannot divorce
i merely said it will be a sin if divorced for trivial reasons, but i'm sure that's common sense.

I doubt its often that people divorce for trivial reasons... too much baggag with the whole thing.
Yes, some may get frightened etc...
I thought it would only ber sinful if not carried out in the right way... like the quick "three times" divorce which while allowed is not seen as a good thing.
On the other hand the word "makrooh" also means disliked and makruh (tehrimi atleast) is generally considered sinful atleast in the hanafi madhab.
