Reading Fiction?

I've seen lots of arguments for and against reading fiction if you are Muslim.

What are your views?

What have the arguments against been?

Simple rule is "everything is allowed unless forbidden" so someone has to make a strong case of prohibition for it to hold any meaning.

Why should reading fiction not be allowed?
