What do you guys think about secrets?
I mean having to keep secrets (your own and of other people) and what extent would you go to keeping them.
And what do you think about having to find out other peoples secrets?
I find it hard work.

yes it can be - especially if you are not sure if you should keep them.
Saying that I have rarely been in a situation to keep any secrets and I suspect that they can be limiting.
Secret can be good, they can be bad (in them selves, and in the consequence of keeping them).
Depends on what they are and why you have them.
And then the question is over whether the secret is yours to tell or not.

erm.I think ideally you should keep a secret unless you think the person could come to any potential harm.
But, yeah, it all depends on what the secret is, how close the person is to you....
That is only if you things have purpose.
Can't things just be - pureposeless? rather, their purpose simply being "to be" instead of some larger goal of world domination or something?

no.
I actually meant keeping other peoples secrets.
Good... shows your trustworthy.
Bad... coz you might have to cover for them in the shape of lies.

It all depends on whether its good for them or not.
and whether telling others would cause good or bad. and whether it affects you or not.
A fine balance would be needed.
Personally, I try to avoid being in positions of power, places where I can manipulate etc and secrets could lead to that.

deends on the meaning of the word secret and if tis being applied strictly or as a form of "not public knowledge" or "knowledge kept from certain individuals".

Isn't there a Hadith saying that it's good to hide your brother's faults (within reason)?
“Before death takes away what you are given, give away whatever there is to give.”
Mawlana Jalal ud Din Rumi
yes and God will hide yours.
Sins and secrets are not always the same thing.

hadith specifically mentions faults.
secrets can come under trust.
Express trust, implied trust, secret trusts....
"In human relationships, kindness and lies are worth a thousand truths."
Don't just do something! Stand there.
if someone was to tell me something in confidence i would keep it to myself and same for something tht wasnt secret worthy.., because i would feel its no-one elses business and i wouldnt wanna betray a persons trust...
