smoking ban

i think its really bad that they stopped the smoking ban everywhere because now if you smoke then you cant enjoy yourself when you go out. i used to go sheesha with my bros but now they all closed and its not fair. english have pub and club and disco and everything and we only used to go snooker and sheesha and now we cant smoke in either. they should have kept it that sheesha places can stay open because anyone who goes there is choosing to go to a smokey place so it wasnt wrong but now we cant. I heard some places are doing it outdoors.

Not that this weather helps...

maybe the recent weather is Allah's (swt) way of telling people to give up smoking rather than just stand outside the pub?

Don't just do something! Stand there.

muslims arent meant to go to pub

If you’re that desperate to imitate smoke (aka sheesha) then why don’t you go out and buy a hookah or save a few bob and burrow your granddads and then both of you can sit in your living room smoking it and talking about the weather.

The smoking ban is the best thing that has happened recently.

sorry to hear that no disrespect to your dead grandad but yeah i agree with Seraphim, smokers are a burden on the NHS irrespective of whether you or your parents pay taxes.

Bro, why is it that you never get what im saying. Naz managed to picked up on it.
Smokers are a burden on the NHS its a self-inflicted smoking over years has fracked up their lungs (BSG talk is good for cursing... its one step short of actually sayin the real thing... without saying it) i dont see why they should cry and moan about it when they KNEW the risks.

Both smokers and people who eat too much fat are at risk from having a heart attack. The difference between them two is how they got there.

Smoking is addictive because of a drug used inside cigarettes called nicotine. Nicotine is a potent neurotoxin affecting mood as well as damaging nerve-cells. The tar from cigarettes is what causes lung cancer. In a study of over 200 patients of lung cancer on 1 was unrelated to smoking. All just so you can get high. Not to mention the amount of money you pour into cigarettes which could be spent else where... oh like erm an education perhaps... oh wait but thats not nearly as fun and "cool" as smoking. Yeah well tell that to yourself a couple of years down the line when your lieing in a bed covered in your own filth. And then you cry little nicotine filled tears becoz people people say your a burden on the NHS. Then you have the audacity to ask, Why?
Becoz theres a HUGE sign on each cigarette packet that reads 'Smoking Kills'. And since no one forced you to smoke all those years lets just say this is karma's way of kicking you in the nads.

The difference with fat people is they ate too much. But wait theres no sign on food that says 'Eating will kill you" well why doesnt it? Jeez shux... coz you need to eat to live. Fat people have psychological issues BEFORE they start to over eat. They're depressed, they're lonely or whatever. Point is smokers develop their addiction AFTER they've started smoking and having read the warning on the package. And if you havent read it... well then your just suffering from Idiotism.

Eating is also addictive. It has severe withdrawal symptoms. Some say you can only last about 7 or 8 days without that drug.

seraph so your excuse for fat people is that the food doesnt have a label on it saying obesity kills? what a crap arguement. you need someone else to tell you how to live your life then you need to think for yourself.

Thing is, that only applies to a certain subset of people. Not everyone eats too much because of those reasons.

I would say those that do for those reasons will probably not end up "fat".

Hows that then?

Those "symptoms" would lead to one of binge events.

Don't trust tv in what it says. It is too stereotypical in thinking unhappiness makes people fat.

I am fat because I sit around too much.

Obesity is not a psychological issue. More a physical issue where people do not burn as many calories as they consume.

Not gonna comment on the NHS side as em and Seraph take totally opposite stances towards it. His is too "tory" for my liking.

this convo should obviously be in the 'relationship with food' topic!

Admin, im horrorfied at your lack of correct-topic-allocating and flabergasted that you are actually CONTRIBUTING to this!?!?!

Don't just do something! Stand there.

I think I hold the record of speed for going offtopic. The first sentence of a topic.

True, but theres still a huge difference between obese people and smokers.

Smokers are like drug addicts and will feed their habit... even if it kills them. I have no sympathy for such idiots. You continually smoke your gonna get lung cancer. Thats a no-brainer... which even a 15 year old should understand. Except he's too busy checkin out fit hijaabis and tryn to look 'cool'.

The NHS is in the sh*ts bcoz of things like this. Smokers know the risks and still they take it... fat people are plain lazy. Where smokers are addicted to cigarettes like crack addicts getting them to go cold turkey is alot harder than telling a fat person to do more exercise.

It's not a one on one correlation. You can smoke and NOT get lung cancer. You can also NOT smoke and get lung cancer.

However, if you do smoke, you will be paying a large amount of extra tax for the government coffers - whether you get lung cancer or not.

And can you lay off other members. Even if they irritate you.

Well thats why i said "continually smoke" obvious having one puff won't give you cancer... although aids is not entirely outta the question.

continually smoking does not necessarily give you cancer either.

And I should not have got that joke.

i would say that more passive smokers are a risk of developing lung cancer than smokers themselves. If a person chooses to smoke than that is their own personal choice, nobody is forcing them to do so (those ppl I have no remorse for). Obviously back in the days when the people were not aware of the affects of smoking and by the time they did it was too late they were already hooked; i have some sympathy for those ppl. But ppl in the 21st century have no excuse you know the risks of smoking, its on every bill board, cig packet and even the national curriculum at school covers the issue of smoking.
As for the issue in relation to food and fat ppl i don’t think all fat ppl should be labelled as having psychological issues. I think most of the time it is linked to genetics.

Smokers pay maybe £1,500 per annum in additional tax. Hospitals should have a whole wing for them.
