hola
if i may ask, what do muslims believe about jinns? i am very confused because sometimes muslims talk about jinns like they are supernatural evil creatures, and then other times they are spoken about as though they were people... with marriages and societies. any information would be helpful.
gracias
Both statements are true. Jinn are beings created by God from smokelss fire, in the same way as God made humans from the earth. And much like humans Jinns also have free will. Thus this gives rise to the existence of good and evil Jinns. Infact theres an entire Sura in the Quran regard Jinns called Al-Jinn. It may also interest you to know that we believe the prophet Muhammed was sent as a prophet to both mankind and Jinns alike.
Furthermore it may also interest you to know that in Islam we believe that the devil (aka Lucifer, Iblis, TheBigBad... or whatever colourful term you want to describe him) was also a Jinn.
And as you said, Jinns have communities of their own as well as customs and beliefs. They are invisible to humans, but they can see humans. As well as choosing the appear before us. It is also believed that they live far longer than humans do.
Hope that answers your question.
Any others feel free to ask.
PS: Hope i havent missed anything major... if i have im sure some1 will point it out.

Supernatural, indeed. Only because we can't see them. As seraphin said, they have good and evil beings. Oxymoron here: When we do see them we are most likely to come accross one of the evil ones. Why? Probably because the good ones have jobs and the bad one get drunk and want to scare people.
