North or South

Which areas of britain are more scenic.........North or South?

I reckon North, because of the yorkshire dales, peak and lake districts........just amazing !!

what? you missed the scenery of the south?

there is concrete and ... more concrete!

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

and more concrete and roadworks Dirol

the scenery in the North might be nice, but most people there live in the cities, and northern cities tend to be horribly industrialised with no nice buildings

london, however, is blessed with some of the most beautiful buildings in the world, both old and new.

I certainly wouldnt wanna live anywhere else in England or Wales.

Maybe Scotland though, that has REAL unspoilt countryside for miles on end, mashaAllah!

Don't just do something! Stand there.

Try driving through it at night when theres no road lights... then we'll see how much you wanna live there.

there is an invention called 'cats eyes' which helps you find ur way along roads.

and cos there arent street lights everywhere it means u can actually see the stars in the sky!

i guess u have to put up with all the heroin tho...

Is that the technology Mercedes uses in its new S class?....If it is, then it doesn't work properly.

I like driving at night, less traffic means you can drive faster Biggrin

Sheffield was named the city of potholes because, erm....it has more potholes than any other place in the UK. In London the roads are maintained fairly well, I'd rather live here where you do get stuck in traffic jams rather than Sheffield for example where there's not much roadworks but full of potholes.

The south does have its greenery but less than the north. People from all over the world come here to England to see the buildings and the landmarks, they don't come here to see the countryside.

From what I've heard Oldham is a dump , if you disagree then give me a few reasons why it's not. Btw. Rochdale vs Oldham, which areas better, be honest!

Oldhams wayyy better... why... let me put it this way their shopping centers are cr@p... infact they're soo cr@p some of the people come all the way down to Oldham to do their shopping.

I used to work @ the Weatshef Center in Rochdale... man was it a DUMP. And from what ive seen i dont really like the ppl that much either.

Oldham IS a dump.

I doubt Rochdale is much better.

However the town centre in Oldham, is half decent.

it depends where you go both areas can be just as scenic in different ways. Up north however the terrain tends to be more harsh and rugged in a beautifully sort of rustic way. Down south things are a lot softer looking, fewer mountain regions and generally drier and warmer.

The peak District is actually a part of central England, it's easily accessible to those living in the west midlands, not north nor south.

The south doesn't have less greenery than the north or more concrete. Erm ppl wax lyrical about devon, cornwall, dorset, somerset and many others. just open up a map and you'll see you're mistaken.

Most cities have beautiful country villages and greenery for miles all you have to do is drive out of the city, try doing that once in a while it's not hard. Maybe in the weekend? Fact is city ppl are too attached to their convenience lifestyle. They're used to living near a local shop, takeaway, chemist etc. Everything at their feet, the countryside scares them. They apparently crave to get away yet they moan about not having any greenery when actually almost every town has it's greenery within easy reach. city dwellers are just too lazy to go out, they're in their little comfort zones. Ain't that true?

Well scotland and north wales win hands down for me, only coz i've been there so many times i love those places. Even planning on moving over there when i decide to buy a house in the future. But it would have to be in the country otherwise i may aswell stay in this dump. why exchange one city life for another, i don't see the point.

liverpool won the most agrucultural place in europe cant give that a miss

I got a cousin living up in Rochdale, never been up there but should be going there sometime in the future, might pass through Oldham and see how the areas like.

Is Oldham really that bad, coz you see it in the media where they show asians living in one area and whites living in another. They don't interact with each other and have 'confrontations' when one goes into the other area. Or did that happen around the time of the riots.

Dont know where you got that from... all areas are mixed... its all media hype... there plenty of good interaction and the confrontations are exaggerated.
Come and see for yourself... you wont see anything out of the ordinary or remotely like what the media bang on about.

A word of advice. Have your name in capitals, and your posts not.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

However the north has pleasure beach blackpool, home to the tallest roller coaster in Europe , the Trafford centre, the largest centre in Europe peoplea are a lot more plliter in the nort

*dirol*''Biggy'*dirol*

The south has Thorpe Park and Chessington. We have our seasides, Brighton and Southend to name two.

We have the worlds largest airport, Heathrow. We also have London Zoo .

You can keep all that.

This is a bit of a silly argument. The Lakes, the Peaks, the Pennines, the Yorkshire Moors, Scottish Highlands, Lowlands and Uplands, Wales, Somerset and Devon, the Cotswolds; London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Edinburgh, everywhere has its merits.

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

Obviously everyone is gonna say their place is the best. Each city has its own good points. If you're happy with where you live, cool. If not, move! Lol, if you can that is.

The media, government, tried to blow us, but they can't out the flame, or doubt the name.
