Getting fat!!!

salaam

a few people have hinted to me that i'm putting weight on!!!!
Lol

so ppl, what is the best way to lose some weight?

no real time for going to a gym regularly....so what next?

what kind of exercises can one do at home every now and then?

does weight lifting work?

and what kind of food is a complete NO NO when it comes to losing weight?

some words of wisdom pls...

wasalaam

Try not eating so much.

Lay off the sweeties, sugary drinks, switch to skimmed milk (or semi-skimmed) tell who ever does the cooking to reduce the amount of ghee they put in it... and get more fibre in your diet.

Then once you've given all that up... read that book 'You are what you Eat'.

Spin around three time and say Picacho and you'll be fine.

Simple: Eat by yourself.

Don't let the wife put food in your mouth.

Calories double in pleasure.

Therefore, use your own hands.

If you let a woman feed you, she will not know when to stop. Neither will you.

Omrow

wow the amount of work you do i thought you would have vanished by now Blum 3 but seems someone has been slacking tut tut (joke)

What to do is eat healthy, only eat when your hungry, avoid junk food and try to get some exercise everyday or at least every other day.

Fatty Eddy.

Take the hint. lose weight.

u must have gained BEAR pounds for ppl to start hinting such a touchy subject to ur face

u can NOT be fat for ur wife

sadly-not everyone is blessed with the metablism where they can eat and eat and never put on weight Dirol

ditch the halwa-stop eating take aways-do NOT eat the food in programmes/meetings-tis ALWAYS greasy n oily

and when ur hungry-just drink water

"MuslimSisLilSis" wrote:

When ur hungry drink water??

Sounds stupid to me.

Ed; eat when your hungry, drink water when your thirsty, its prob all the snacking you do between meals. Try not to snack on junk food, if your feeling peckish grab a fruit. Try to avoid greesy food aswell as binge eating.

I think drinkin water on an empty stomach is bad, i think it also makes ur belly bloat - Now Ed dont need that Blum 3 Biggrin

actually its good for ur kidneys and stop u frm feeling hungry

a Dr told my uncle to drink a pint of water as soon as he gets up

lilsis your great metabolism won't last forever, much has to do with your age. After 20 your body starts changing. So enjoy the fizzy drinks, crisps and junk while you can,it won't last long Wink

I think i've got a good metabolism, but I wouldn't stuff anything down me either, because being slim doesn't necessarily mean you're healthy inside, you could have many problems that you're unaware of. It's not all about the visible fat.

Ed might sound boring but eat what you like in moderation, balanced diet, lots of water at least 1.5 litres everyday, it helps wash away bad toxins. Last but not least the dreaded exercise, it has to be done i'm afraid, if you're serious about losing weight. Discipline brother! insha'Allah you'll lose it soon.

I’ve always had fantastic metabolism, which benefits me cos I love my food…I don’t know how long this will last though. :?

But I have noticed that if I spend a month eating a lot of take aways and attending many Islamic programmes/meetings/classes etc where munch is always served then my stomach feels softer than usual….the food served in programmes is ALWAYS oily and very unhealthy.

If you avoid such food and cut down on junk food I’m sure you’ll easily lose weight…if you need to lose a significant amount of weight then you should diet….

i aint fat... just putting a bit weight out..
thought best to sort it out now before i look like a sumo wrestler...

only 11 stone at the mo...

my prob is i spend half of my life sat on a chair infront of the computer, or sat on my butt talking on the phone.... as i work in a call centre, do revival work on chair infront of comp for aaaages etc etc...

i have no time for exercise... believe me...

get back from work at 7.... then after eating on comp till late....then next day.... what a great life i lead Biggrin

my weakness...pizzas, chips and chutney, seekh kebabs, and a few more Lol

so who else on this forum has put weight on, is putting weight on or has lost some weight recently???

I used to be a fat child. I lost about four stones three years ago and now I am a perfect size 10 :P. From personal experience I have seen that the girls who over eat and claim never to put on weight are bulimic.

There's no such thing as good metabolism.

Ed - don't drink anything but water, kill ultra fatty foods in your diet for a little while, and do 800-1000 crunches in the morning (don't worry, that's not as bad as it sounds).

The water thing is really important, you wouldn't believe how much weight you can put on from coke, juice and other things.

If you had time jogging, simming, or rowing would definitely help it usually takes a male about 45 minutes of cardio exercise before they are actually burning off real weight (the rest is just water) so an hour and up would make a difference.

It's hard to do it midday which is why I usually get up about 6:00am... you also burn more weight off in the morning I have no idea why... that might just be a rumor.

So you could do that.

*as for your question, generally speaking no you aren't going to lose weight by lifting... in fact you'll gain it. Muscle weighs ten times (I think) more than fat, and supposedly fat can be converted into muscle through weightlifting. But you probably aren't going to shed it significantly unless you are going for muscle toning - even then the important thing is jogging, swimming or something like that. So don't bother with weights unless you want to bulk up.

Says the bitter obese inner child in you

:?

Not all girls who eat well and don't seem to put on weight are bulimic.

From what I've heard this is a young age, hereditary or a good metabolism thing…

why so u can tease us bout it once u have lost yours

I have put weight on, its because of stupid call centre work where u sit on ur butt all day doing nothin!

Since i have left work, I have had proper meals no rubbish from outside....best thing to do Ed is to stop eatin takeaways esp. chips/pizza/crips/choco, if you have a belly best exercise to do whilst ur doin revival work is to tuck your belly in for a few seconds and then let go...keep doin it for a while - its suposed to help apparently.

You feel so good by eatin healthy...mum brought me strawberies/banana's/peaches/apple....

Lilsis/MS your right - everyone's metabolism works differently, my cuz eats and eats loads of junk and she is a stick!

nah Ramz, every person is different. i had a friend in high school who was bulimic, she ended up in hospital because of it. but my best mate in high school looked as though she was anorexic - if u didnt know her you'd think she was. but mashaAllah, she seriously ate like there was no tomorrow! Lol and she never ate healthily either, she'd have two packets of crisp and a coupla chocolate bars for lunch whilst i sat there with my homemade healthy sandwiches and a fruit... Sad Wink
basically she had an extremely high metabolism - and u cant just say there's no such thing as metabolism, coz its a common scientific term, without it we would not be able to survive.
anyway having a high metabolism does not make one healthy - which is whats really important. weight does not necessarily determine how healthy we are...

I NEVER WORE IT BECAUSE OF THE TALIBAN, MOTHER. I LIKE THE MODESTY AND PROTECTION IT AFFORDS ME FROM THE EYES OF MEN.

Fruit is your friend! Blum 3

Thats what I always say! Dirol

Who is the cat of the Forum? MEZ!
Your damn right!

eat smaller meals.... using smaller plates would help too if you want to lose weight.

yep for you fat boys use a tea cup saucer, that's a nice portion Lol

Salaam,
Something which maybe of use, thou personally am not too keen on banana's
Bananas about Bananas!?!
It's long but read it, makes you realise we don't even know the true extent of Allah blessings upon us...all these blessings just from a banana , SubhanAllah!

GOING THE BANANA WAY

After reading THIS, you'll NEVER look at a banana in the same way again!

Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fibre. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.

Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.
But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit.It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet

DEPRESSION
According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into Serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS
Forget the pills -- eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

ANEMIA
High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it the perfect way to beat blood pressure. So much so, the Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

BRAIN POWER
200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

CONSTIPATION
High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

HANG-OVERS
One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

HEARTBURN
Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

MORNING SICKNESS

Snacking on bananas between meals and at night helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

MOSQUITO BITES
Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation. Do not forget to eat the banana.

NERVOUSNESS
Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.

OVERWEIGHT AND AT WORK?
Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and chips.Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.

ULCERS
The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disordersbecause of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL
Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers.
In Thailand, for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

SEASONAL AFFECTIVE DISORDER (SAD)
Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.

SMOKING
Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

STRESS
Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat,
sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are OVER stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

STROKES
According to research in New England "The Journal of Medicine," eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%

So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When compared it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrates, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods
around. So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, "A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"

wow, that really is amazing, such a blessing we have from Allah

smile and be happy!!!
